Every morning you wake up, you go through a grand series of acts that help you get up and at ’em for your awesome day. Sometimes it’s successful and other times, you just want to crawl right back in bed and start everything over. Now that it’s that time for going back to school, it’s essential that you wake up on a good note so you’ll be able to have a great day of classes! Maybe your routine now is successful for you, but if yours isn’t or you simply want to improve your routine, here are some tips to help you get that good morning ball rolling.
Avoid The Phone. I’m pretty sure this is a habit that everybody does: sleeps with their phone right beside them at night. It’s a guilty habit! Especially if you use it for an alarm. So as soon as you wake up, that’s going to be the first thing you see and want to waste time doing.
Checking texts, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. You’ve already lost 30 minutes there — if you’re on a time frame, doing that definitely won’t help your morning. So just avoid it all together or wait until you have some downtime. I promise you, it’s not going anywhere.
Play music. Upon waking up, just listening to some of your favorite music whether it’s something hype or even calm, can make a huge difference. Even if you don’t wake up feeling too hot, that music can put you into an upbeat, happy mood and when you’re in a happy mood that’s just going to make your whole day great. So why not start the day off with your favorite song? My favorite song to start of the day is “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” by Kanye West
Eat breakfast. I tend to ask a lot of people about their breakfast preference because I like to get some new ideas on what I could eat. The majority of responses that I receive to this question is: “Oh, I don’t eat breakfast…” That is the most important meal of the day! With eating breakfast, you’ll be more energetic, more productive, and will be able to think more clearly because you aren’t hungry.
If you tend to not be as hungry in the mornings, you can always eat something light such as cereal or yogurt and fruit. If you don’t have enough time to actually cook a breakfast, get a grab ‘n’ go: granola bar, breakfast sandwiches, etc. Whatever your breakfast food preference is.
Drink Tea. Drinking tea is a great way to start your morning off. There are different types and they are all beneficial. Green tea, chai tea, herbal teas, they’re all good. They’re very soothing and just all around healthy. All types serve different purposes and taste amazing, plus tea makes a much better, healthier drink option vs. coffee.
My personal favorite is Vanilla Honey Chai Tea by Celestial Seasonings. I’ll make the tea and add Vanilla Almond Milk by Almond Breeze, then add some more honey to help sweeten the taste. If I don’t want it hot, I’ll add ice cubes and have an iced chai tea. Tastes just as good!
