“It’s Ms. Jackson if you ask me”
The legendary artist has been making history since she became an artist! Her funky beats and retro styles always had her fans fired up.
Total, Janet has been nominated for 18 BBMA awards, winning 10 awards, has 10 number ones and 27 top 10 singles and is the seventh artist to win the Icon Award.
Janet Jackson is also the FIRST African-American female to ever be honored with the Billboard Icon Award.
Bruno Mars introduced Janet listing her accolades and awards and nominations. This is her first televised performance in nine years!
Janet ignited the stage dressed in a gold sweatshirt that came to her thighs with some shiny high-knee boots along with some fishnet tights and a multi-color scarf to go with her unique style. Her long ponytail was the icing on her entire outfit!
It’s been awhile since Janet has taken the stage for a big performance but she still shook the crowd; taking you back to some of her earlier hits such as “Nasty,” “If,” and “Throb.”
Janet’s mother, Katherine and nephew Prince were sitting front row enjoying every bit of her performance. After her performance and accepting her award, she gave a very emotional speech and tribute to the women that were abused or involved in domestic violence relationships. As an activist for the #MeToo movement, she preached that women should not be controlled or manipulated. She also spoke on faith healing divisions and thanked her fans and God for giving her the strength and energy to become an artist in the first place.
Congratulations Janet Jackson, we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving!
