Ever since the release of Jhene Aiko’s album, Trip, the songstress has made it her personal mission to encourage young teenagers to become readers and writers through her campaign, #PennyPens Campaign.

Just Monday, Aiko launched her WAYS Foundation, which stands for “Why aren’t you smiling.”

Jhene’s late brother, Miyagi passed away at an early age from cancer, therefore, Aiko has created the foundation in order to help those in need. On Christmas Eve, Aiko donated to five-year-old Lily Olive.

“This Christmas, I decided to gift my family with the ‘WAYS Foundation,
something my family and I have had in the works since the passing of my brother,”
Aiko tells Billboard. “I decided to make a donation on my family’s behalf in which
we plan to continue to help people and families affected by cancer.”

Her first donation of a whopping $15,000 was made at Olive’s home in Eagle Rock, California. Olive has been battling leukemia during Thanksgiving break.
