Orange is the New Black returns for Season 4 with new twists and turns to keep us on the edge of our seat. Acclaimed actress Vicky Jeudy plays the athletically known high school track star turned inmate resident at the infamous Litchfield prison. Her journey on this upcoming season is sure to have us all on the edge of our seats as we watch the ladies of Litchfield. Still, there is more behind the camera to know about actress Vicky Jeudy whose parents are Port-Au-Prince immigrants. Here’s a sneak peak from actress Vicky Jeudy on her perspectives on what we can expect this season, how she loves being natural, and what music keeps her going!
What can we expect this season of Orange is the New Black?
Season 4 is so good. It’s a lot of headline news and lots of drama. The audience will be at the edge of their seats for this season. That’s all I can say because it comes out in a couple of days, but I promise as you’re watching, you’re going to feel like ‘what’s happening?’ It is definitely my favorite season thus far.
What can we see evolve this season with your character Janae Watson?
Oh I don’t know, you have to stay tuned to see what happens.
How has it been for you working on the show Orange is the New Black and how has it shaped your opinion of women in prison?
I think to me it’s a very humbling experience because every person one way or another have done something wrong, but you didn’t get caught. These women were caught doing something and their whole lives have changed. How many times as people and as humans, how many times could we look back to say I have made some mistakes where there could have been severe consequences? Moving forward just seeing and always being conscious or wise of the moves you make in life because that can affect you for the rest of your entire life in a negative or positive way. At the end of the day, we are all human and should show compassion towards one another. That’s what I love about the show because it shows you the humanity of each of these women, so you start to fall in love with them and you forget about why they are in prison.
What’s on your Summer music playlist?
I’m pretty open. I definitely have Rihanna and also I’m a Caribbean girl so I have Kompa music on my playlist. I have a little bit of Hip Hop and R&B as well as Christian music so I have a long playlist depending on my mood.
What are some of your beauty must-haves?
My number one is I am a fanatic when it comes to eyebrows. I feel like eyebrows really shape your face so I’m constantly making sure my eyebrows are well-groomed. In terms of makeup, I really love the no makeup look. So if you were to meet me right now, if I were to stop by the office or walk down the street I don’t like to wear a lot of heavy makeup. I like to leave that for the red carpet and photo shoots. I just believe in having really great skin, drinking lots of water, and I feel like if you have great skin, you don’t have to wear much makeup. So for me a tinted moisturizer or something as easy as powder with lip gloss and mascara. I really just like leaving the house simple and pretty. I feel my audience likes that and can relate to me.
Do you have any upcoming projects?
I’m getting ready to shoot season 5 for Orange is the New Black and I do have an independent film coming out called Armstrong, which I’m really excited about. Its a sci-fi film that has lots of parts behind it. I have a lot of different projects outside of acting that I’m involved with. I recently came back from Haiti with Sean Penn’s organization and the name of his organization is called J/P HRO. It was great going to Haiti to see all of the work they are doing there and he’s very passionate about Haiti. He has 2 hospitals, a school, and a community center, so it was great to be interactive in the community. Currently, I’m taking Creole classes and I speak Creole, but when I went to Haiti they were making fun of me. I was like I’m coming back you guys so stop making fun.
