When beauty, culture, and creativity merge together, the results are unforgettable, and Pardon My Fro’s “Fro Plane” pop- up event proved just that!

This past weekend, Dana Bly, founder of Pardon My Fro, redefined what it means to make a statement. The event was held inside a CVS, but transformed into a vibrant, travel- themed celebration that took guests on a first- class flight through culture, creativity, and community. From the moment you stepped into the space, the energy was electric, the vibes were infectious, and the creativity behind the experience was undeniable.

Inspired by a playful aviation concept, the event transformed an everyday setting into a bold, immersive experience that aligned perfectly with the brands signature flair. The theme “Fro Plane” immediately came to life through team members dressed as charismatic flight attendants who greeted and welcomed guests with beaming smiles and enthusiastic energy. As we walked through the door it was clear that this wasn’t just a product showcase event, it was truly a celebration.

At the heart of it all was Dana Bly, the visionary CEO and founder of Pardon My Fro. Her presence was felt at every corner of the event, as she remained hands on throughout, greeting supporters, answering questions, taking pictures, and ensuring that every attendee felt seen, appreciated, and part of the Pardon My Fro family. A variety of her signature products were on display and available for purchase, and guests who spent over $30 were gifted an exclusive Pardon My Fro travel bag, a thoughtful touch that added to the events elevated experience.

SHEEN caught up with Dana to learn more about her event and the creative concept behind the “Fro Plane” pop- up. She shared that her creative team is her backbone when it comes to projects like this, but she knew she wanted to do something bold and fun that would stick with people. “The whole ‘Fro Plane’ theme was inspired by the movie Soul Plane. We just ran with it from there and made it our own”, she said. Dana shares that it’s truly a surreal feeling every time she has an event. “To see people, show up for me and something I created, it’s a feeling I don’t take for granted. I’m always humble and grateful.”

Pardon My Fro isn’t just about bold designs and colorful packaging, it’s a brand deeply rooted in culture, identity, and self- expression. “My business is unapologetically Black. It celebrates Black women and Black culture in a big way”, Dana proudly shares. “I just like being in front of the customers face. That’s why it’s always important for me to show up. People need to see the person behind the brand. I want them to know that I’m really the one designing this and every piece of art you see, it all comes from me.” Before officially launching Pardon My Fro as a haircare brand, Dana has always been a graphic artist. This identity continues to shape the brands DNA.

Beyond the products themselves, Dana shared what she truly hopes customers take away from the Pardon My Fro experience. “I always want to uplift people through my products” she said.  “Everything is intentional, from the design to the feel. I want that one simple touch to brighten someone’s day. I want people to walk away feeling empowered, confident, and seen.”

When asked to describe her brand is one word, Dana didn’t hesitate: “UNAPOLEGTIC. ALWAYS!”

The Fro Plane pop- up was also elevated by a special appearance from internet sensation and comedic personality @notkarltonbanks, known to many as his hilarious alter ego, “Bun”. His presence brought an extra dose of excitement to an already high- energy event.

We had the chance to catch up with him during the celebration, where he shared his enthusiasm for partnering with Pardon My Fro. “I love supporting other Black creatives and entrepreneurs. It’s room for everyone and this event aligned perfectly.”

When it comes to his current must- have from the Pardon My Fro lineup collection, he named the mousse as his personal go-to, however, every product he’s tried from the brand has exceeded expectations. He encourages others to shop and experience it for themselves.

When asked to describe the event in just one word, his answer was simple, yet powerful: “Bold!”

The “Fro Plane” pop- up event wasn’t just an event. It was an experience, a movement, and a powerful reminder that beauty, culture, and community can take flight when vision meets authenticity. With a mission rooted in empowerment and unapologetic self- expression, Pardon My Fro is destined to continue to soar.
