The 9th Annual BronzeLens Film Festival hosted itsWomen SuperStars Luncheon presented by BETHer at the Marriott Marquis. The honorees at the luncheon included actress Tina Lifford (Queen Sugar, Scandal, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders), producer Ayoka Chinzara (Hair Piece: A Film for Nappy Headed People, Alma’s Rainbow), and creator Samantha Vincent (The Fate of the Furious, XXX: Return of Xander Cage, Riddick). BronzeLens creative team Deidre Mcdonald and Kathleen Bertrand were also honored. The breakthrough work that the prestigious women have accomplished was highlighted and celebrated in a room full of talented women in the film industry.
The event was hosted by national media personality, Egypt Sherrod. Paying reverence to the late Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, all the music played during the production was one of her many hits.
Songs like “Respect”, “Think”, and “Rock Steady” played at the ascension of each superstar that was honored and simultaneously empowered each attendee at the luncheon.
The inspiring, prestigious accomplishments of all the honorees that ran across the screen was a captivating experience to witness. Each acceptance speech delivered was heartfelt, powerful and from a place of authenticity. Set to Aretha Franklin tunes, RESPECT and honor was definitely in the environment… respect for each of the amazing women trailblazers honored and the “new day” that’s now taking place in the filmmaking industry for women of color.
