Earlier this week, President Joe Biden announced his first official set of judicial nominations to serve on the federal bench.

There are 11 total nominees in which they would serve as Federal Circuit and District Court judges, and as a Superior Court Judge for the District of Columbia if confirmed.

Among the group of nominees are four Black women and a canidate that would be the first Muslim American federal judge in our nation’s history!

The slate also includes one Black man and four Asian American Pacific Island nominees.

Nominees include: Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, Tiffany Cunningham, Candace Jackson-Akiwumi, Judge Deborah Boardman, Judge Lydia Griggsby, Judge Florence Y. Pan, Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, Regina Rodriguez, Margaret Strickland, and Judge Rupa Ranga Puttagunta.
