Miami Beach was the perfect setting for the American Black Film Festival red carpets this year. African queen splendor was de rigueur at ABFF 2019 with Kente cloths, bright yellows, delicious arrays of oranges and reds.
Humidity, the beach, and the Loews Miami Beach pool are always a great reason for protective styles. Natural textured hair designs were the hair trend at ABFF this year. Effortless box braids, intricate combinations of cornrows, curls bouncing or pointing towards the sun, natural crowns reigned on the red carpet.
It was not a blank slate of white at the anticipated ‘Legendary White Party’. Body-con, cutouts, sheer chevron, and deep v-necklines dresses were prominent. Master P was one of the many male attendees rocking a white suit but the only one to pair with double chains of diamonds.
