Meet ROE, the Grammy-winning vocalist, accomplished writer, and indie artist who is captivating audiences with her innovative sound, which she describes as ‘Champagne RnB.’ Her upcoming EP, *Oakwood*, showcases a rich tapestry of pretty melodies and bass-heavy tracks that evoke nostalgia while remaining firmly rooted in the present. With influences from her Venice, California, upbringing, ROE’s music is a powerful exploration of identity and empowerment, making her one of R&B’s most exciting new voices.

ROE is proud to announce the release of her highly anticipated new EP, *Oakwood* — a raw, soulful, and empowering project inspired by her roots in Venice, California.

*Oakwood* is more than a title — it’s a tribute to a historic Black neighborhood in Los Angeles and a personal reflection of ROE’s journey from behind-the-scenes hitmaker to solo star. The project blends lush melodies with bold, modern production, capturing the duality of ROE’s story: both vulnerable and powerful, timeless and contemporary.

With her signature vocals and standout songwriting, ROE explores identity, love, and emotional liberation themes. The EP follows the success of her breakout single “I Like,” which earned over 10 million streams and landed at #2 on Billboard’s Most Added R&B Radio Chart. Her debut EP *My Way* has since amassed over 30 million streams and landed her placements on editorial playlists across Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music, and Pandora.

A prolific songwriter, ROE has penned tracks for some of the biggest names in music, including Megan Thee Stallion, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Chloe & Halle, Normani, Kiana Ledé, City Girls, and more. Notable credits include “Lick” by Shenseea ft. Megan Thee Stallion, “H.E.R.” by Megan Thee Stallion, and “80/20” by Chloe & Halle. Her versatility extends to work for hit shows like *Empire* and *Star*, and collaborations with DJs like Tiesto and The Him.

ROE’s undeniable voice, poetic pen, and deep cultural roots set *Oakwood* apart as not just another R&B release — but a defining moment in her evolution as an artist.

SHEEN Magazine interviews Roe:

Hi ROE, congratulations on being a Grammy Award-winning vocalist. What an incredible achievement. How did that moment change your confidence as an artist, and how does it influence the way you approach your music now?

ROE: Thank you so much! By the way, a shout-out to Usher for allowing me to be a part of such a great body of work. It taught me early that it’s about the song first. Making the best body of work you can and having a good, inspiring time. Also, being vulnerable is important. Only great things will come from that.

Congratulations on your upcoming EP, Oakwood! The video for your single “Stay” is incredibly alluring and visually seductive. “Pull Up (Drop)” drops with the full Oakwood EP on June 25. What can your supporters expect from this project?

ROE: Aww, I appreciate it! I would expect to crave your person lol. Like, want, love, and miss them, but in a sexy, feel-good way. I’m a big lover girl. Also, I expect to have fun!

Your songwriting catalog is stacked with hits for Megan Thee Stallion, Chloe & Halle, Kash Doll, and Usher, to name a few. In addition to these milestones, what have been some of your proudest career moments to date?

ROE: Some of my proudest moments in my career, aside from participating in the Grammy, ASCAP & Soul Train Award-winning work, were signing my first record deal with Macy Gray when I was 15. Also, when my single “I Like” was the 2nd most added R&B song in the country, it would’ve been number 1 if it wasn’t for Giveon lol. But I achieved it as an Independent Artist, which was an amazing feat for me and my team. Then there are the silent wins behind the scenes that we work so hard for that are then reflected out into the world. Building relationships with people I work with and becoming more business savvy is rewarding for me.

As we celebrate Black Music Month, what does it mean to you personally and professionally?

ROE: Well, first, Happy Black Music Month!! What is the world without Black creativity? I feel like Black Music is everything and everywhere. It’s Pop, it’s R&B, it’s Country, and also Rock n Roll. It’s everything, and I’m so proud of that. To be able to add to the legacy is such an honor.

What advice would you give to young Black girls or aspiring songwriters watching your rise and dreaming of their moment?

ROE: The first piece of advice would be to love what you do and get better and better! Study songwriting and structure, as well as someone you admire. Write and record as much as you can because it’ll teach you things about your voice, your style, what you like, or dislike, etc.

Be good, do the work, and the next steps will reveal themselves. Whether you believe in God or the Universe, there seems to be a thing where if you build it, they’ll come. Also, once you get your foot in the door, you learn that talent is only half the battle. Now it’s about your ability to show up, perform, and move smart.
Guard your reputation, and if they don’t open the front door, go through the back or make your own door, Babes! If you want it, keep going and most importantly, NEVER compare your journey to anyone else’s. Go get ‘em!! xo.

What’s next for ROE? More visuals? Touring?

ROE: Definitely more fun visuals and bops on the way!! Also shows lots of shows! I’m so excited, and I love meeting the people who enjoy what I share. It’s the best feeling.

What would you like our readers, your day one and new supporters, to take away from your music legacy?

ROE: All in all, I want the readers and my day ones to know that I’m just a girl. Born in Venice, CA, who loves, loves, loves to create music. It’s my purpose, my passion, and my peace, and I hope they feel that every time they listen.
