Shareef O’Neal, the oldest son of NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie O’Neal just this time last year suffered a rare heart condition that was diagnosed as an anomalous coronary artery.
This condition is a condition that caused an artery to grow in the wrong place. The diagnosis, not only nearly cost Shareef O’Neal his life but also his basketball career.
After undergoing open-heart surgery and rehabilitation Shareef quickly recovered and got back to what he loves basketball.
He’s now in his second year, at UCLA in good spirits as he tweets reflecting on his journey how far he came and still has to go. Sending well wishes to the O’Neal Family.
After my surgery I never thought I would be the same … still learning how to adjust to my body and adjust back to basketball.. I feel great now but I’m still not fully myself and that’s why I have to stick to me and trust the process!🤞🏽 at the end of the day, I feel great rn
