How spending some alone time with yourself can shake off the weekday stresses.
It’s the middle of the week, and the weekend seems like it’s just not coming fast enough. It seems as though the stress of the week just gets stronger and stronger, but there is no need to let that stress control your day. Instead of focusing on the list of things that need to get done, or counting down the number of hours until 6 pm on Friday, center your attention on other things.
Finding time to relax in your day can clear your mind and improve your health. It is as simple as taking 5 minutes out of your day to read, write, meditate, pray, or shift your attention on an activity that can “take you away from the world”. The most essential part of having a little me time during the day is that you focus on YOU. Do not concern yourself with the tasks you need to complete, just breathe. Take some time to realize what is happening in the present moment, and surround yourself with comedy. Laughing is a great stress reliever!
Form a habit of spending time with yourself everyday, and take the time to discover what makes you happy. One way to start your day off on the right foot is starting a gratification journal. Begin with writing down five positive things a day, these can be about yourself or your day. By finding a small journal that you can carry with you anywhere you can even write down positive thoughts on the go. Over time you can look through your journal to be reminded of the positive things you felt, and you may be able to see growth in yourself.
