As an activist with the “Act on Climate” tour she expresses her beliefs in the effect on climate change to the health of others.
“Not just the tour itself but the movement is everything. The amount of pollution in our air is literally giving people cancer and asthma.”
After having an aunt die of cancer she feels tied to the movement personally. “There’s absolutely a lot that we can do about it, it’s not about sending a check because everyone wants to raise money we are just asking you to get involved. We’re just asking you to use your voice”.
Her passion about the movement and her voice in the film and music industry has Smith busier than ever. With her new EP Love Is Everything set to release November 20, this singer has a lot to be proud about. Growing up singing in the choir, Smith didn’t always believe that she could sing exclaiming that her music idol Whitney Houston is someone she mimicked to help her learn to sing.

“I was inspired by Whitney Houston. Her legacy is incredible. I want to touch people the way she did.” Smith’s bold voice is undeniable in her latest single titled “Higher.” That song along with others on her EP, describe commitment issues and new love. She describes some of the songs with an Aretha Franklin funk soul vibe. “I hope it touches people and changes them and opens their mind.” While on Broadway in her leading role in the musical Rent she said, “you could easily get into that moment doing a show eight times and six days a week. I pushed myself.”

Her drive and talent is what landed her in the movie Stock Option set to release November 7 on TV One. Smith said she agreed to do the movie before reading the script knowing she would work alongside Tasha Smith, joking that the two are related. The talented singer also stars in the movie Deuces with Meagan Good and Larenz Tate.
Although, her role as an actress first garnered the attention of many, the songstress is undeniably focused on her music as her ultimate goal. There is no doubt that the talented woman will make her way through the industry leaving her legacy to those in the world.
As the Ultimate Beauty Guide, SHEEN had to find out her beauty obsessions. “I have about 50 lipsticks and lip glosses in my purse. My aunt was a beauty junkie, I get it from her.” Admitting that YouTube videos help her a lot with her makeup routine, Antonique loves the lines Mac, Skinn Cosmetics by Dimitri James and Hard Candy.
