March of 2020 uncovered a level of uncertainty that the world had never experienced before. If we moonwalk back to the months prior, what was to come couldn’t be predicted by the most powerful horoscope. In January of 2020, I had just moved to a new city and also began a new job doing what I loved, writing grants for a lucrative tech company. In addition to moving to a new city and starting a new job, I had just been invited to be a part of the largest honors society in the nation. The National Society of Leadership and Success reached out to me in late December 2020 to be a part of their organization. They held a special induction ceremony for my peers and I. I was humbled.

The NSLS works with prominent public figures and powerful celebrities who had overcome immense obstacles who lived to tell about them in a series called ‘Motivational Monday’s.’ These conversations were meant to instill character and leadership skills within each member. They were meant to motivate and inspire us to persevere and ultimately, overcome. Every Monday I would feel a tug at my spirit saying, ‘Knetris, those are your peers.’ I was about to embark on my own personal pandemic several months later. The pandemic began in March of 2020. In January of 2021, I tested positive for COVID-19. I was sick for 2 weeks. After I was able to recover, I felt myself gravitating more and more to the Motivational Monday’s series. Since I had such a powerful testimony, I wanted to figure out a way to motivate the people in my personal life and my supporters on social media.

I took that concept and reopened my blog, The Word Nerd, after 7 years of inactivity. I decided to start blogging every Monday inspired by Motivational Monday’s with my honors society. Every Monday I post about current events in the world and leave my readers with some encouragement. I get so much pleasure in lifting people up. Below are some tips on how you can speak LIFE into your peers and loved ones!

1. Stay Positive.

2. Show Empathy.

3. Practice Self Care.

4. Practice Gratitude.

5. Reach Out To People Who Are Struggling.
