Let’s be honest. I have far more swimsuits than would ever be necessary for one person, unless that person literally lived underwater, which honestly the debate about mermaids being real is still up in the air. Regardless, every year when pool-weather rolls around, I find myself so tired of ALL of my old swimsuits. It seems that they are all worn down, dingy or just out of style. So, in trying to plan trips to the beach this summer, I began scouring the internet for suits that are both long-lasting and #Instaworthy. After putting their pieces to the test, I have found a couple of stand-out brands that are definitely worth checking out.

Matteau

This Australian brand fills a major void in my life; swimsuits that last forever. So, although I previously mentioned my overflowing swimwear drawer, I didn’t share that most of my suits are dirt cheap. Now while my frugal side certainly applauds a good deal, I have found that swimwear is something to invest in. I am now narrowing my hunt for pieces that will last me as long as possible without losing their shape or being warped by the sun, both of which have happened to me far too many times. Thankfully, that is something that Matteau does oh so well. These pieces don’t sag or stretch out of shape, and will definitely be worn for many years to come.

As I am sitting here mentally purging my swimwear collection, I can’t help but cringe at the thought of all the suits I’ve worn in the past…triangle tops, push-ups, halters, hi-rise bottoms, low-rise bottoms, one-pieces, strapless, the list goes on and on. As I’ve gotten older (and wiser) I’ve learned that the simpler the better, no need for crazy suits that will lose their cool-factor quickly. I think the designers at Matteau must have felt the same because their collection is the epitome of timeless. The designs are simple yet flattering for all body shapes. My personal favorite is their Square Crop Top in the Lilac color paired with the Petite Brief because it is the perfect shade of purple that will always be in style.

I have to say that although these on the higher-end of the swimsuit spectrum, you definitely get a bang for your buck!

Pro tip: I would size up if you are looking for a more relaxed fit because the material isn’t very stretchy.

Okay, all you environmentally-friendly consumers will love this brand! Not only are Wolven swimsuits cute & comfortable, but they are also made of recycled water bottles. Like what?! Their whole shtick is “Make Sustainability Sexy,” as they focus on rescuing the plastic bottles that are usually dumped in the ocean, killing marine life and worsening pollution. Now if the thought of wearing a plastic water bottle is mind-boggling, just know that the fabric that is created from broken down plastics is beyond soft and extremely durable.

Personally, I am a big fan of their Heliocentric Dreamer Reversible One Piece. I ordered it in my normal size and found the fit to be perfectly snug and supportive without being restricting, which is honestly my biggest pet-peeve when it comes to one-pieces.

I also love that the swimsuit is reversible! The fact that it’s 2-in-1 means no more worrying about over-wearing the same suit all summer. Plus, both sides are actually cute, which is something that can be a challenge in the reversible world.

I definitely recommend checking them out this summer because you can help the environment and look great doing it!
