I don’t know about you but the first time I saw Kai Wener appear on the hit comedy series, The Orville. I was suckered in by how adorable and sweet he is! The young actor is a fan favorite and plays the youngest son of Dr. Claire Finn (portrayed by Penny Johnson-Jerald). Check out our exclusive interview with the young star, just know we warned you because you’re about to be captivated by just how adorable the young star is.

Describe your experience on The Orville.

Working on “The Orville” is super fun, but at the same time, it’s a learning experience. As the youngest person on the show, I get to work with some really cool adult actors that have so much experience in this business. Scott Grimes, who has been a child actor like myself, Adrienne Palicki, who I’ve been a huge fan of since “Agents of Shield”, and directors like Jon Cassar, who takes the time to teach me what he’s doing in each of my shots. Not to mention, I get to see Mr. Seth MacFarlane, the creator of the show, at work every day!

To top it all off, I’ve been fortunate enough to have Penny Johnson-Jerald play my mom, Dr. Claire Finn, BJ Tanner plays my brother, Marcus Finn, and Mark Jackson plays our family friend that is also an “Artificial Intelligence” life form named Isaac. Together, we are the “Finn Family” and you wouldn’t believe how much fun we all have together on and off the screen!

What do you think you and your character Ty Finn have in common?

I think my character Ty Finn and I are both brave for our age, we both love music and we both like to go on adventures. We love our mothers with all our hearts and at the same time, we are the typical younger brother that thinks it’s funny to see our older sibling get into trouble!

What do you like doing besides acting? What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

If I’m not out at an audition you can find me playing video games (Yes, “Fortnite” is my favorite right now) or putting together some outrageous numbered piece Lego set! I love a challenge! My family and I are also huge Disney fanatics, so you just might find me hanging out at the “Happiest Place on Earth!”

Where do you hope to see yourself in the future?

Of course, I would love to see many more seasons of “The Orville” so we can see Ty Finn grow up and show how his character develops into a teenager and young adult. I’ve also recently had some awesome opportunities to read for some film projects, so hopefully, I’ll get to see myself on the big screen in the near future! Fingers Crossed!
