Husband and wife duo Regis and Kahran are the imaginative forces behind CreativeSoul Photography. With over seven years of experience in shooting hundreds of children, families and brands the Atlanta-based photographers specialize in commercial and editorial work, focusing in on child and lifestyle photography, while still incorporating authentic visual story telling in their artwork.
How did you get started in Photography?
We both started out in the marketing and design world and fell in love with photography while dating cross-country long distance. We decided to start CreativeSoul Photography together while Reg was in school studying photography.
What is like working with your significant other? Any advise for couples who are in business together?
We are one of those couples who do everything together. We enjoy being in each other’s company so we’ve always known that we wanted to start a business together. Our biggest advice for couples going into business together would be to identify each other’s strengths/weaknesses and find a way to utilize each other’s unique talents. It helps us to create our own areas of expertise in the business and separate tasks.
Could you share what it was like going on a world tour as a photographer?
We had already traveled through several states in the US so we eventually decided that it was time to explore other areas of the world. We absolutely love finding new locations and were able to meet some incredible new people along our journey.
What are your favorite types of projects to shoot?
Our favorite projects are any projects involving kids that allow us to get creative and tell a story. Our photography tends to have an editorial/story-telling feel that we love.
What do you want people to learn from looking at your photos?
As I mentioned, we love telling stories with our photography so we love photographs that allow the viewer to dig deeper into that person’s story and feel the emotion the subject was feeling at that point in time.
What’s next for Creative Soul Photography?
We hope to transition our brand to more of an empowerment brand for kids of color. We are planning use our photography and influence to further encourage kids to dream big. We would also like to continue our World Tour and release our photo book from the tour in the fall. We’d like to continue to use our platform as a connection point and voice for the continuous advancement of our community.
