The Merge Summit Offers a Place Where the Sacred and the Secular Can Come Together to Make a Difference in Entertainment Industry.
The Holy Spirit was definitely present during the 2015 Merge Summit tour in Atlanta, GA. Taking place at the dREAM Center Church of Atlanta, which is led by gospel artist and Merge Summit participant, Bishop William Murphy, the event was full of heavy hitters in the entertainment industry.
Founded in 2009 by Dr. Holly Carter, President/ CEO of Releve’ entertainment and Robi Reed, VP for talent/casting and original programming for BET Networks, THE MERGE SUMMIT was created to educate, empower and inspire creative men and women of faith, by providing a platform to network, partner, and learn from leading entertainers and industry executives.
The vision is to create a community where the sacred and the secular are integrated to impact the marketplace with messages of inspiration that uplift communities. Throughout the day, over 20 interactive panel discussions along with powerful master classes and engaging breakout sessions are conducted. “I am passionate about what I do. My mentor, God rest his soul, told me that there are things you want and there are things that you can’t live without. Thrity years later I am still in this business because I can’t live without it,” says Co-Founder Robi Reed.
Panelist such as LisaRaye McCoy, power couple Devon Franklin and Meagan Good-Franklin, Jasmine Guy and Rob Hardy of Rainforest Films all shared their stories of inspiration about their path to success and stardom.
“I think that artists can help pay things forward and try to help shed light to people of faith about the complexities of the business and what it’s really about, [and] how to make it. This gives people of faith a chance to talk to other people of faith in the entertainment industry. It allows you to be able to connect with people who are trying to be on the same journey you’re on.” Director Rob Hardy explains when asked about the importance of The Merge Summit.
The next stop for the tour is Chicago, Illinois in March of 2016. The symposium will return to L.A., the place of its inception August 22-24, 2016.
