Atlanta is a hotspot for underground music and for artist who want to break out and jumpstart their career. The 90’s music era is a pure testament to the level of artistry that can be produced from Organized Noize that gave us legends like Outkast to So So Def that gave us Xscape, Jagged Edge and many others. In recent years, many new artists have relocated to the new chocolate city to use it as a launching pad to get on the music industry map. However, the city is still where many native’s who know the cities rich history for music are not so quick to turn it over to relocators. In fact, there has been an uprising of native artists releasing mixtapes and hitting the mainstream to bring back the true ATL sound. Atlanta natives are reclaiming their music thrones once and for all.

Many of us have tuned in on Monday nights to catch VH1’s hit show, Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta. This show has served in a way to introduce us to artists that we need to watch. Akbar V was introduced to us in season 9 as self-proclaimed “Queen of Atlanta.” A born and raised East Point (outside of Atlanta) native who was coming to claim her throne and show the world her rap skills. She entered the show showcasing her artistry and confidence in her craft. Working hard to secure her bag and place in the music industry, in 2020 during the pandemic she signed under the management of Cortez Bryant with Blueprint Music Group who is responsible for the mega careers of Lil’Wayne and Nicki Minaj. Akbar V was even the opening act for Weezy during his Lil Weezyana Festival in 2019.

With a major label under her belt, on March 26,2021 she released her new single, “Right Now” as well as a merchandise line to accompany the release. With this new single we should soon see an album coming soon. Check out her new single now streaming on all music platforms.
