South Bronx native, Tiffany Evans first came into the entertainment industry when she appeared on Diary of a Mad Black Woman and released her debuted single, “Promise Ring” featuring Ciara over 11 years ago but she’s here to let you know she hasn’t gone anywhere! We sat down with Evans to dig deep and discover how she has evolved as an artist over the years and talk about her new single, “Switch Up“!
Tell us about your self, when did you know that you wanted to get into the world of entertainment?
Well, I am Tiffany Evans and I am a singer, actress, dancer, entertainer, I’m basically a Jill of all trades. I’ve been in this industry since I was about nine-years-old. A lot of people know me from the movie, Diary of a Mad Black Woman or my single, “Promise Ring” featuring Ciara. Today, we’re here now and we are evolving onto the next phase (laughs). I knew that I wanted to do this from yea high. My momma always says I’ve been singing since I was two-years-old. Music has always been a part of my family; I knew that I always wanted to be in the industry.
You have endured a lot in your life, what do you believe the challenges you’ve faced have taught you about yourself or your career?
Yes, one of the things that it has taught me about myself is that I’m extremely resilient. I really don’t let obstacles steer me away. I am very much a person that works well under pressure. I hate to say it because you know, sometimes pressure is not good but I perform well under pressure. Those are a few things that I’ve noticed about myself from going through the experiences that I have gone through in life. It has taught me to remain optimistic and to hold on.
It has been 11 years since you debuted your hit single, “Promise Ring.” How do you think you have evolved as an artist?
Wow, as an artist I have evolved in so many ways and also as a woman. I was a teenager when I released that record and I had gone through some things and experienced life a little bit at that point but as far as intimacy, relationships, and all of that stuff, it kind of happened to me after I released “Promise Ring.” I’ve been able to evolve in that area and incorporate it into my music; being able to sing about it, being able to write about it, and actually, know that it is coming from a true place. As a woman, we all go through so many things in life that evolve us. After releasing “Promise Ring,” I got to experience and understand more of what love and a relationship is.
Are there any projects you can give us insight on? What can we expect to see from Tiffany Evans in the future?
Well, I just dropped a new record called, “Switch Up.” The music video is set to release this month. That is basically a prerequisite of the project that I am going to drop the first quarter. I would give you all a name but you will have to wait and see! The project is one of my most vulnerable, most aggressive projects that I’ve worked on to date and I am really excited to share it with everyone.
