Grammy nominated singer/songwriter, Tweet, kicked off “The Charlene Tour” earlier this month and made a stop in Atlanta last night at Variety Playhouse.
It’s been six years since The Southern Hummingbird was on the scene, and now, the ageless beauty is back like she never left with her latest self titled album Charlene that was released February 2016. This sultry album showcases Tweet’s growth since the release of her first single “Oops (Oh My)” back in 2002. With singles like “Won’t Hurt Me,” “Magic,” and the stand out track “Neva Shouda Left Ya,” Tweet has stayed true to her old fans with her creative candid writing and picked up some new fans along the way who also have an appreciation for true artistry.
The opening acts Victor James, sung his original song “Bus of Love” and Coriology came out with some playful melodies of his own, setting the tone for the night. Tweet performed new songs and some of her classics bringing the stories alive on stage with her band members of 15 years, who also produced the majority of her music; along with her quartet of “Hummingbirds”. The crowd was live and sang along with the singer. The end of the show was magical, Tweet brought up local singers from the audience and special guests like Meelah from the group 702 and thee Ms. Kelly Price; all sharing their renditions of “I Was Created for This”.
