History has just been made in country music!
Country singer, Jimmie Allen became the second black artist to hit No.1 with his debut single, “Best Shot.” The hit single is the leading track on his debut album titled, Mercury Lane which was just released last month!
Allen took it to Twitter to express his excitement with his followers.

It doesn’t end there because yet another black country artist made history as well. Kane Brown’s sophomore album, Experiment debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 charts. Brown’s album because the first sophomore album from a country artist to lead the charts since 2014!

If you’re familiar with country music then you know these two young men are following the footsteps of Darius Rucker who became the first black artist ever to receive the Country Music Association New Artist of the Year. In addition to that, Charley Pride was named Entertainer of the Year in 1971 and became Best Male Vocalist in the same year and the year to follow.
