It has just been announced that actress, Viola Davis will team up with NBA star, Steph Curry in order to executive produce a documentary on the Charleston church shooting that took place in 2015.
Supremacist, Dylann Roof took the lives of nine African Americans during a prayer service at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Deadline has reported that the documentary titled, Emanuel will showcase interviews from survivors and with family members of those who lost their lives.
In a statement, Curry said, “Emanuel is an incredibly powerful film and we’re honored to come on board as executive producers. The documentary highlights how a horrible tragedy can bring a community together, and spreads an important message about the power of forgiveness. Stories like this are the reason we created Unanimous and entered the entertainment space. I hope the film inspires others like it does me.”
On April 10th, 2017, Dylann Roof was sentenced to life in prison.
