If you don’t know her, get ready to fall head over heels for the sweet, charmed, cook who has caught all of our hearts. Not only is her blog, I Heart Recipes one of her successful platforms but her YouTube channel has quickly risen to the top. We sat down with the creator of I Heart Recipes, Rosie Mayes to find out who the mastermind behind these delicious recipes is!
Do you mind telling us a little about yourself and how you grew a love for cooking?
I’m Rosie and I am the owner of the blog, I Heart Recipes and I also have a YouTube channel. I’m from Seattle, Washington but my family is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana so, all of those southern recipes trickled down to me. I come from a family of cooks. All of my aunts cook and my mom so I was always in the kitchen with them, that’s how I really began to fall in love with cooking.
We know that you commit yourself to new videos every Sunday and Wednesday for your subscribers, how are you able to make that big of commitment while still remaining so sweet and graceful?
It’s honestly just something I like doing, it doesn’t seem like it’s something I have to do. It’s something I actually really enjoy. It’s not like a large task or a job.
Your subscribers love you for your bubbly personality, do you mind sharing your favorite aspect of being a personality on YouTube?
My subscribers. I love interacting with them. I legitimately feel like they are my friends. I definitely continue YouTube because of them.
How do you find the inspiration for your videos?
Well, two factors. I love to eat, (laughs) I always come up with ideas and my subscribers are constantly e-mailing me and writing me on social media asking for recipes. I come up with recipes if I don’t have one, I just play around in the kitchen until I come up with the perfect recipe.
Your channel is full of recipes! What is something your subscribers don’t know about you?
When I first started my YouTube channel, I was working as a PCT, also known as a CNA, full time, 12 hours a day. The first four, maybe even five years of having my blog and YouTube, I was juggling the channel with my CNA job.
Other than cooking, who is Rosie? What is something you enjoy doing when you’re not filming videos?
I love spending time with family. I’m kind of a homebody. I like to watch Netflix, (laughs) a lot of reality television shows, family vlogs on YouTube, I’m really into Walking Dead. I’m pretty simple.

I love Rosie’s recipes, they have saved me time after time. I’m from the mid west and didn’t grow up eating much southerner style food. But I do now since I discovered her recipes. Thanks and Congrats on the article!
I just made a trial run of Rosie’s Soul Food Dressing. Delicious!!! My son said, “it’s full of flavor.” We both had two servings. My family is in for a treat on Thursday. Thank you Rosie.
