Handbag and leather goods designer Patricia Nash came to New York City to visit the Macy’s Flagship store at Herald Square at 34th Street on May 8th, from 2PM-3PM, in a national wide tour celebrating the brand’s 15th anniversary of Patricia Nash Designs.
On the lower level in the handbag section of the store, Founder & CEO Patricia Nash made an exclusive in-person appearance, since launching her brand in 2010. Nash will be touring with her team to celebrate the brand.
This was an opportunity for fans of the brand and shopping lovers to meet the face behind the brand. Shoppers can take photos, get their handbag signed by the designer, and any customer who purchases over $200 receives a leather notebook with Nash’s autograph.
“I came to Herald Square to meet our loyal customers and celebrate Spring with our new Spring 2025 collection and Mother’s Day,” said Nash.
Nash is a fashion designed veteran. She is based in Knoxville, East Tennessee, and grew up in Houston, Texas. Nash has over 20 years design experience as a contract designer for many companies like Express, J. Crew, and America Eagle. After years of designing bags for other brands, she decided to go into business for herself in her 50s. Nash’s love for travel and vintage handbags came into the plan to building her brand. She traveled to many places for research.
In her research, she collected inspiration like bags, materials, and pieces of leather from everywhere like China, Paris, Italy, and Europe. Her brand is a family-owned brand with her daughter, Jennifer Vanderink, as Vice President of Operations and Strategy, and co-owned with her husband, Jeffery Nash. In 2021, the Patricia Nash Brand started branching into jewelry, wallets, and travel essentials.
At the meet-and-greet, fans were treated to custom Patricia Nash cookies and a surprise guest, fashion illustrator and live painter Rebecca Schneider (@xobexstudio) The NYC-based artist came to the event and hand sketch-free fashion sketches for the attendees on the spot and under five minutes. “I have been an artist as long as I can hold a pencil,” said Schneider.
“My sketches are the best way to appreciate something. I like sketching a person who is alive and capturing their essence and soul. I love to capture that little piece of their personality. I am a southern girl, and I love leather goods. You can see the quality in every handbag the quality, and as an artist, that resonates with me. It is so much fun to sketch people. Macy’s is iconic!” she said.
“She is my favorite part of the event and so amazingly talented, capturing these women beautifully,” said Nash.
Nash has a full tour schedule and has partnered with QVC as a Q50 Ambassador. She has joined QVC and Tik Tok for their empowerment movement to inspiring group of women living their Age of Possibility while redefining the image of women.
On May 22nd, Nash will be a keynote speaker at the Workshop for the Macy’s Graduation Ceremony at the Macy’s Corporate Office in New York.
As the meet-and-greet started to come to an end, Nash teased about what is coming soon for the brand, “I would love to expand our footprint,” said Nash. “We’re going to launch our footwear. It is already in select stores and on our website. I just hope we touch more and more people.”
