Meet Kisha Tyrrell, a Bermuda-based beauty innovator and inspirational figure who is working to nuture self-love amongst women around the world by creating and distributing high-quality skin care products and rituals for them to utilize and enjoy.

Tyrrell’s beauty line Enzuri Beauty meets at the intersection of the necessity of self-care and a love of luxury, and focuses on high-potency ingredients that effectively target a wide range of skin concerns ranging from anti-aging fine lines and wrinkles to hyperpigmentation.

“I want women and consumers to think differently about how they take care of their skin,” Tyrrell tells SHEEN. “Skin care is not just about using the right products. It’s about your mindset, about how you treat yourself, and strengthening your own bond with yourself.”

“When was the last time you looked in the mirror and said ‘I love you’ to your skin?” Tyrrell said. “Take the time you need, just for you. It’s about saying no to the things that do not serve you and saying yes to you and the things you deserve. You deserve great skin.”

They say, “when you look good, you feel good,” and Tyrrell recognizes that there is also a strong and healthy benefit to investing in the process of looking good, such as, with a strong skincare routine. According to research from Psychreg.com, a digital publication dedicated to psychology, mental health, and wellness information, experts have found that a skin care routine can love the amount of cortisol, also known as the stress hormone, in the body by up to 83%.

A true trailblazer, the creator of Enzuri Beauty has worked diligently to bring her luxurious, high-quality brand to households globally. And while she created her masterpieces with women of color in mind, her brand is powerful and effective with skin of every race and complexion.

SHEEN: Tell us about your journey starting Enzuri Beauty.

Kisha Tyrrell: My journey to starting Enzuri Beauty was a journey of love, loss, and loving myself fully through self-care, embracing luxury through giving me what I deserved, and through entrepreneurship.

I had reconnected with my first boyfriend and we decided that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with each other. We welcomed a son, and when our son turned four years old, my fiancé was diagnosed with acute Leukemia. He lived in London, so I flew back and forth from Bermuda. I remember walking into the hospital room where just four weeks later he passed away.

It was tough because I did not foresee any of this and we had a plan– I was not supposed to be a single mother. I was 100% mentally and physically making sure our son had a community. I was volunteering for charity and very involved in community outreach. I didn’t realize how exhausted I was until the pandemic hit.

I ended up with shingles, all stress related. And it took that happening for me to ask myself “What’s going on in my life?” I realized that I didn’t grieve, I didn’t process the pain, I didn’t heal. I had to stop, and it allowed me to pause and breathe.

It was then that I knew I wanted to start a business. I think I saw it as a way of making it. This is the life I’m supposed to be living I’m supposed to be an entrepreneur. Later, after connecting with scientists and chemists, and conducting in-depth research, a distinguished brand was created – Enzuri Beauty. The effective, clean, luxurious skin care products are formulated for both morning and evening skin care needs.

SHEEN: How can women strengthen the bond they have with themselves through skin care?

Kisha Tyrrell: As women, we go through a lot, we put up with a lot, we take a lot. It’s okay to say no. Your health is important – part of your health is skin care. Think about that last time you looked at the products, think about how you need to make changes in your approach to skincare. What is it that you’re doing now that will address your current and future skin care needs. If you’re going to meditate, journal, and exercise in the morning, why would you not take care of your skin with the same consistency? That’s why I encourage women to take the time to care for their skin. It really pays off.

SHEEN: You’re known for empowering women to live luxuriously, but when did you first fall in love with luxury?

Kisha Tyrrell: My mom wanted to make sure that I knew how to take care of my skin, so when I was 12 years old, she took me to get my first facial. I used to dance a lot – both ballet and tap. I remember my ballet class on a Saturday and going to a salon, my appointment. I remember checking in and sitting in the reception room.

“Are you waiting for your mom?” I was asked.

“No, I’m ready for appointment,” I said.

There weren’t many kids getting facials. The esthetician’s wanted to make sure that I knew how to take care of my skin and to understand what was going on. My mother instilled in me the value and importance of taking good care of yourself. I had the luxury of being able to get that done and being able to learn how to take care of my skin. My first set was Clinique – 3 steps. I used to take it with me to slumber parties. I was in the bathroom taking care of myself!
