“It’s inspiring to see a strong love that pushes through things that could break their relationship up and what they’re willing to do to maintain that love.” -Marvin Lawrence Winans III
Marvin Lawrence Winans III- affectionately known as Three- is making his mark as one of the rising stars of young Black Hollywood. With passion, poise, and undeniable, Winans shines in his breakout role as series regular in the Netflix original series Forever – a highly anticipated adaptation that brings Judy Blume’s iconic 1975 novel into a bold, new era.

Forever is reimagined through the lens of executive producer and showrunner Mara Brock Akil, whose signature blend of authenticity and emotional depth breathes life into the timeless tale. Set in 2018 Los Angeles, the story follows a young couple navigating the messy, magical terrain of first love – complete with heartbreak, joy, awkwardness, and discovery. Their journey explores what it means to grow, to rick, and to love for the very first time.
Winans plays Jaden Edwards, a younger brother who looks up to his older sibling and cherishes every moment they share. For Winans, stepping into this role was a powerful experience.
“I feel great about this role and I’m very excited. It’s my first series regular role, and I want people to see me as a good actor and connect with my character. Jaden’s role as a younger brother is meaningful – I want the audience to feel joy when they see me on screen.”

As Jaden, Winans embodies the warmth and complexity of sibling bonds – observing, learning, and supporting from the sidelines while coming to his own. It’s a role that celebrates emotional intelligence, family ties, and the value of presence.
Before landing in Forever, the multi-talented actor and former youth basketball standout had already built an impressive resume. With an agent since he was just 18 months old, Winans has appeared in national campaigns for Apple, Google, Amazon, AT&T, and more. His charisma caught the attention of audiences in a recurring role as Chad on the hit series Abbot Elementary, but Forever marks a major leap forward in his career.
Reflecting on his time filming Season 1, Winans shares how his on-set experience shaped his own perspective on love and loyalty. As both an actor and an older brother in real life, he connected deeply with the series’ central theme: enduring, unconditional love.
“I think the fact that it’s their first love – even though they’ve had other crushes – is so powerful. It’s real love, and I think that’s going to resonate. It’s inspiring to see a love that pushes through challenges, that doesn’t give up. It’s beautiful to see people care for each other that deeply.”
With an emotional depth and a bright future ahead, Marvin Lawrence III is poised for a lasting career in Hollywood. His performance in Forever is not just a breakout – it’s a statement.
