H&M expanded its empire with the reopening they’re of the Hudson Yards Shopping Mall located at 500 West 33rd Street. On July 24th at noon, H&M held a fun-filled day for shoppers to experience the new expansion of the store to cater to everyone in the family. The event opening was hosted by social media personality Alaina Randazzo, aka #RedCarpetGirl (IG@alainarandazzzo)

On the 3rd floor in the mall, a long line of excited shoppers came an hour ahead to score the exclusive deals and enjoy fun activities. H&M currently has 35 stores in New York and grossed $22 million in sales last year. “It was such a fun, energetic way to start a Thursday morning!” said Bre (IG@pupsnchoclate), a social media personality who regularly attends pop-up shops all over New York. “I didn’t expect to have such a good time, and I’m very glad that I could attend!” she said. She was one of the lucky 100 who received a $200 gift card. “I’ll save it for a rainy day!”

The store opening started sharp at noon with a confetti and rose petals celebration, and treated shoppers to a first-class experience in a growing fast-fashion empire. Shoppers were treated to a sweet deal: a free scoop of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream with five flavors to choose from: Black Cherry Chip, Pistachio, Strawberry, Cookie & Cream, and Vegan Carmel Swirl.

There were many more fun incentives with this store’s opening. While giving a quick tour of the new store by the Communication Lead for H&M Americas, gave a run-down of all the events going on throughout the day, “Today we have a custom-made H&M Tote bag made from local resource products, a DJ the whole day, a special photo opportunity, an in-store host and all departments available with womens, mens’ kids, and teens from newborns to 14-years-old.” he said. “We also have a giveaway where the first 100 customers can receive a $200 value and special gift with purchase, where you can custom design an H&M t-shirt,” he said. “The location will offer a ‘store within a store. The new store has two entrances. On the left side entrance is the new expanded men’s wear section.

Customers were given a chance to express their creativity in-store with a $50 purchase. You can custom-make your t-shirt on the spot, picking your symbol of New York and your home zip code. The symbols representing New York were designed by Rebecca “Bex” Schneider (IG@xobexstudio). She was at the H&M opening and took a photo at the photo booth. “The H&M Hudson Yards grand opening was electric!” she said. Customers were excited for a custom t-shirt and the hot playlist of music playing.

As Beyoncé and Katy Perry blasted with DJ MILKYSHAKE (IG@milkyshakedj) on the turntable at the right entrance of the store, she shared how she enjoyed the event, “I think it’s just a great event!” said DJ MILKYSHAKE. “I am so excited to be part of it, and I know it’s a grand reopening of the store. My favorite part was the big countdown with rose petals and confetti, and that was very exciting!” she said. “I also like the ice cream!”

H&M expresses the plan behind the expansion of the Hudson Yards store and the plan to expand other locations in New York.

“As we continue to invest in both new and existing stores nationwide, we are thrilled to celebrate the opening of our new locations at Hudson Yards,” said Michael Beaumont, Head of Expansion, H&M Americas. “With an updated design and elevated layout, this new store will not only serve New Yorkers with an enhanced shopping experience, but also strengthen our overall presence and continue investment in the NYC market.”
