What was the inspiration behind becoming a nurse practitioner?

Francine: I come from a family of healthcare professionals, so caring for others was always part of me. My aunt and cousin, both nurses, encouraged me to try nursing, and I loved it. Early on, I realized I had a natural ability to connect emotionally, which led me to specialize as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. It’s not just a career for me—it’s a calling to help people heal from the inside out.

Do you believe in work-life balance? If so, how do you maintain it?

Francine: Absolutely. For me, balance isn’t a perfect 50/50 split—it’s about alignment. I maintain it through breath work, daily prayer, meditation, saying “no” without guilt, and training like an athlete. Movement grounds me physically and mentally. I protect these practices fiercely because they sustain my peace.

What does wellness mean to you?

Francine: Wellness means alignment—bringing mind, body, soul, and spirit into harmony. It’s about balance across physical, mental, spiritual, and intimate wellness. When these are aligned, I feel grounded and capable. Wellness is a non-negotiable foundation for showing up fully.

How can busy people fit wellness into their daily lives?

Francine: By being intentional. Wellness doesn’t require hours; it requires awareness and purposeful action. Small things like moving during calls, deep breathing between meetings, meal prepping, or setting digital boundaries create pockets of wellness on a busy day.

What are your top three tips for improving overall wellness?

Francine: Meditate daily to reconnect with your purpose, move your body in a way that feels good, and eat intentionally to fuel your energy and confidence. Wellness is a daily decision, not a destination.

How important is sleep for wellness?

Francine: Sleep is essential. It’s not just rest but recovery and reset for the mind and body. Without quality sleep, all other wellness efforts fall short. Sleep is the foundation of sustainable health.

What role does nutrition play in wellness?

Francine: Nutrition fuels every function in our bodies and minds. Balanced, intentional eating supports energy, mental clarity, and emotional stability. It’s not about restriction but about fueling the life you want.

Are there any wellness myths you often hear?

Francine: Yes. That wellness means perfection—it doesn’t; it’s about consistency. Also, that wellness requires spending a lot of money—it doesn’t; simple habits work. And that sleep is optional—sleep is essential for thriving, not a luxury.

Wellness is a lifestyle rooted in reality, made personal and sustainable.
