Christina Mack is from Anderson, South Carolina and as a 6lbs 7oz, small little a bundle of joy, her family knew that she would grow up to be an inspiration. Extremely shy but truly gifted at anything she puts her mind to are the same qualities that her father Joseph Mack has and continues to instill.
Joseph Mack, popularly known as Joey Withinarts, began his artistic journey at just nine years old and his determination and dedication to captivate people around the nation are the same things he used to enhance his daughter’s talents.
Her father, Joseph Mack, noticed her talent at the age of three years old and signed her up for a Clemson basketball camp during the winter of 2019. She gravitated to everything that was being taught, and her father knew instantly that she loved the sport. “I wanted to do as much as I could to support her dream. In our home, education is the most important thing to make a great athlete. Her mother and I make sure the foundation is a necessity before training. She must study for at least an hour before picking up the basketball. Jog 2 laps around the track, run the bleachers and, during the summer, she ran track with her brother to help build her stamina and endurance.”
Christina always comes to her father with so many bright ideas about how she could become a
better athlete. They study WNBA players, and one of her greatest inspirations is Aja Wilson.
In 2023, Christina wanted to join a team, so Joseph went looking for a good team in the Easley Recreation Department coached by Shane Bell. He was one of the most impactful coaches anyone could have. Joseph states that “He understood what my daughter needed to push her talent. Very shy, never played in front of a crowd or team, but built her confidence fast. Her mother and I never left her side and supported every game and every practice.”.
The year 2024 was better than the first year because Christina made twice as many shots as last year,
helping carry her team to first place in the Pickens winter tournament, finishing that season
with a winning record. He stated his house became her gymnasium from the bedroom to the
kitchen, practicing her dribbling and passing. “It brings me joy to see my daughter love
doing what she loves. It pushes me to be a better father each day”.
This year, in 2025, Joseph wants to give a special thank you to Ashley Baker for hosting the Baker ball
and bringing beauty to the sport of basketball. Easley is more than just a city, but a family of people who care for each other. Also, Bruh mentors Clemson University players, Pendelton High School coach William Gibson and Green Bryson McGowen’s NBA basketball camp and I9sports, Greenville, SC.
Christina is more than just a basketball player; she’s a daughter and an inspiration to those around. Fathers should give flowers to their daughters and as Joseph Mack stated, “Don’t wait too long. Give your daughters flowers and let them see how amazing they are, and how they’ve changed your life”.
Joseph Mack wanted to captivate his daughter in this article with hopes that one day, she can look back, read this and know she is never alone. “It took a true team to build her gift, and for that I couldn’t ask for anything else. She has been a blessing to me and everyone she encounters.”
Thank you, Sheen Magazine, for giving my daughter this platform to share her story.
