When singer-songwriter Adena Ajayi found out she was cast as “Professor Howard” in the Independently produced Drama-Thriller “Who Is She,” the rising actress couldn’t believe it.
It was a “Let me go and see if this is real” kind of disbelief – a disbelief that became a reality once she realized she was a co-star in one of the biggest independent films of the summer.

Adena Ajayi brings power and passion to “Who is She” now streaming on Peacock, Tubi, Amazon Prime, Fandango, and Hoopla – reaching over 300 million monthly subscribers and counting

This summer, Ajayi brings her character to life with authenticity, a natural delivery, and an effortless performance. Whether it’s on stage or in front of the camera, Ajayi was born to entertain the masses. Distributed and produced by Maverick Entertainment Group and United Millions Unlimited; the drama-thriller is filled with intensity, horror, and an exhilarating storyline with layers of suspense and tension.

The film follows Meagan, a beautiful woman in search of love and acceptance, who masks her tormented soul. Beneath the surface lies a volatile woman with multiple personalities and a dangerous capacity for violence.

Film Director Mark K. Buddington [Director, writer, and producer] tells Sheen “It was very interesting working with Adena. At first, she seemed very nervous but after the first take, she became a natural. I would love to see what she can do with a lead role.”

In her latest film project, Ajayi plays Professor Howard – a caring, serious, skeptical, and investigating character who ends up in a dangerous situation. “I should have just minded my damn business, I was scared” [she laughs] as she recalls her on-screen performance.

“In my role, I played Professor Howard. There was an investigation and I needed to look into it. I was concerned about the lady [Meagan] and I needed to go and make sure everything was okay. I went to the house and I should have been staying in my place, I should not have gone and investigated on my own. In my role, I kind of stuck my nose in something and I ended up in a bad situation, I should have just minded my business. In real life, I would never have done that. That’s not me,” Ajayi says.

With a purpose deeper than mere entertainment, the film has an important message as it touches the subject matters of mental health, vetting people before granting them access to your personal life, boundaries, and more. If you watch the film with a sense of awareness and personal responsibility it just may save you from a dangerous situation and keep you from being a statistic or victim of your very own, real-life drama-thriller.

While describing one of her most memorable moments while filming, Ajayi recalls the horrifying experience. “I was tied up and put in the closet with the door shut, my mouth taped up and my hands were roped. I remember saying to myself ‘Oh my, This is so scary!’ Then when she [Megan] bent down and talked to me and started talking to me, it was scary. I was seriously scared. And I could not get free from it because I was all tied up. I was like ‘What did I get myself into?’ I was doing my best acting. I mean it was unbelievable and I’ll never forget it, I couldn’t sleep that night,” she recalls.

For Ajayi, the Hollywood experience has been nothing short of a dream come true for the actress-singer. From her 4-season role in the reality TV series Below Deck Mediterranean to the 2023 release of her debut album ‘Aura’, Ajayi continues to solidify her place in Hollywood as a rising star. The actress encourages movie lovers to stream her latest film and to know that “What’s unique about it is the fact that it’s for real like this can happen. It’s something that everybody needs to watch and take it home and take it to heart and be very careful when you hire someone. It’s something that makes you say hmmmm,” she explains.

The multi-hyphenate singer-songwriter is a contender for America’s Next Top Hitmaker where she is currently third place in her group, vote online at tophitmaker.org to support Ajayi as she contends for the #1 spot.
