My First Time Exploring the Last Frontier with Travel Alaska & Black Travel Alliance

Let me just say this, if Alaska wasn’t on your travel bucket list before, go ahead and grab a Sharpie because it needs to be. I had the incredible opportunity to experience Alaska for the very first time with Travel Alaska and Black Travel Alliance. The outdoors meets foodie adventure I never knew I needed.

The Ultimate Outdoor Playground for the Adventurous Babe

We touched down in Juneau, the actual capital of Alaska and later explored Anchorage too. Now listen… if you’re one of those people who love scenic hikes, breathtaking mountain views, and getting your steps in while looking cute in a puffer jacket this is your place. The air? Crisp. The views? Giving postcard. The vibe? Nature goddess meets Black girl luxury.

There were whale watching tours, nature trails, and more scenic overlooks than my iPhone camera roll could handle.

Now Let’s Talk Seafood Because WOW.

Alaska isn’t just showing out with the views let’s discuss the real star , the seafood. The King Alaskan crab at Tracy’s King Crab Shack in Juneau? LIFE-CHANGING. Like, go ahead and cancel your other crab plans for the year  this one has entered the group chat.

And don’t even get me started on the seafood chowder. Whether you grab it at a fancy sit down or a little market spot, just know it’s gonna be thick, chunky, and absolutely loaded with flavor. You’ll be thinking about it weeks later, questioning all the chowders you’ve had before. Yes, I’m still recovering.

Pro Tip: Wednesday Night Karaoke at The Alaskan Hotel & Bar

If you find yourself in Juneau mid-week, go ahead and make your way to The Alaskan Hotel & Bar for karaoke night. Great drinks, an eclectic crowd, and the type of good energy that makes you think, should I move here?” We went in as tourists and left as the main characters. Grab your crew, get a cocktail, and bless the mic with your best Beyoncé vocals.

Alaska is That Girl

This trip was a reminder that Black women belong in every space  even bundled up on a glacier, hair laid under a beanie, and smashing crab legs like it’s our last meal. Whether you’re looking to connect with nature, fill your camera roll with insane views, or just eat ridiculously fresh seafood while living your best life Alaska is calling.

It’s giving Black girl joy in the wild. It’s giving luxury meets hiking boots. And trust me, you want in on this.
