Starting back from the eighteen hundreds, stockings, tights, and pantyhose have a long history. Hence, women have been relying on undergarments for support, comfort, fashion and hygiene.

Undergarments have become a fashion statement with a variety of styles and shapes to accommodate many preferences. Bandelettes, the new category in lingerie was created by two women, Julia Abasova and Rena Abramoff. Periodically one of the ladies used to experience discomfort with thigh chafing while wearing dresses in the summer and shared how frustrating it would be. The ladies realized that this discomfort was very common with other women. Considering there was no solution on the market that addressed this in a way that was both functional and stylish, the ladies had the perception that women shouldn’t have to sacrifice comfort for fashion or hide behind shapewear. That moment sparked the idea to create Bandelettes, the first thigh bands that prevent chafing while looking like beautiful lingerie.

Once Bandelettes were featured on the market the feedback was incredibly encouraging.  Many customers shared how relieved and happy they were to finally have a solution that worked and looked good too.  The ladies shared they heard from people who said they could comfortably wear dresses again, travel more easily, or just feel more confident going about their day. Knowing that their product made such a difference in people’s lives really reinforced their mission and inspired them to keep going.

The ladies shared that they design all their products themselves and are proud to say that their thigh bands are patented, making them the original creators of this innovative solution.  They don’t outsource design. Every concept is developed in-house, based on real needs and customer feedback. Once the design is finalized, they work closely with their manufacturers to fine-tune every detail from lace selection and fit to the placement of silicone bands to ensure the highest quality, performance, and comfort.

The ladies share how incredibly fulfilling knowing that their products empower women to wear what they love without pain or discomfort is everything to them. It’s more than a product. It’s about helping people feel good in their bodies. The joy and confidence that their customers express keep the creators motivated every day.

Thigh chafing isn’t gender specific. It can affect anyone whose thighs touch. The ladies share that their unisex styles provide a discreet and comfortable solution for men as well. Whether for everyday wear, sports, or travel, they offer the same friction-free, breathable protection. Thigh bands can be worn under pants, jeans, or shorts to prevent irritation, especially during warm weather, long walks, workouts, or extended activity.

Bandelettes were featured as part of Chromat’s runway look in the MET Costume InstituteIn America: A Lexicon of Fashion” exhibit. The ladies were excited collaborating with a brand like Chromat, known for pushing boundaries in inclusive and functional fashion, which made the moment even more meaningful. Seeing their thigh bands recognized in such an iconic institution was a powerful validation that functional fashion can be innovative, empowering, and worthy of the spotlight.

The ladies share that they are always working on expanding their line in thoughtful, meaningful ways. Their lace panty shorts, and flirt bikini were inspired by the same mission to blend style, function, and comfort.  They’re exploring more inclusive, supportive pieces that continue to solve real-life needs.

Advice the ladies give for any aspiring lingerie designer is to start with solving a problem then, bring your own creativity to life through your designs. Listen to your customers, pay attention to detail, and don’t be afraid to take a risk on something new.

Bandelettes are available on bandelettes.com and on Amazon. The creators work with select retailers and affiliates around the world, but their website always offers the best selection, sizing guidance, and customer support.
