ABOUT DREEZY
Dreezy has significantly contributed to the resurgence and increased visibility of women in hip-hop. In the process, the Windy City’s rap princess earned Platinum and Gold plaques while establishing herself as one of the most versatile female MCs Chicago ever produced. And she’s still pushing forward with her newest single, “Toxic,” featuring Grammy Award-winning cultural icon T-Pain. With its kaleidoscopic blend of singing and rapping, the romantic number reaffirms her magnetic charisma and innovative artistry. Before she had a legacy to contemplate, Dreezy was born Seandrea Sledge in Chicago, IL. By age 14, she wrote poetry as a form of escape and personal expression. After joining her school’s poetry club and jazz band, she spent her formative years honing her craft and deepening the narratives in her songwriting. Soon enough, though, Dreezy released her debut video, “ILLest Bitch Alive,” which quickly gained popularity on YouTube. Following that release, the then-ascendant rapper’s prestige grew considerably after unloading her viral “Chi-Raq” freestyle back in 2014. That same year, she signed to Insterscope Records and went on to launch her debut studio album, No Hard Feelings, in 2016. The record featured one of her most notable singles to date, “Body” (featuring Jeremih) – Dreezy’s platinum-certified hit that also became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. After 2019’s popular mixtape Big Dreez, Dreezy parted ways with Interscope in 2020 and consummated her independence with 2022’s HITGIRL LP, which was executive produced by Grammy Award-winning sound architect Hit-Boy. Beyond the music, she continued fortifying her brand presence through strategic partnerships with wildly recognized fashion brands such as Puma, becoming the face of their CALI Bold sneaker campaign, and True Religion, teaming up with the latter for “The Diamond Collection” – a capsule collection designed for the women of streetwear. Not to mention, she was tapped as a brand ambassador for Fashion Nova and Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty. Traversing previous lanes, Dreezy also made a mark in acting by portraying “Queen Cabrini” in Netflix’s film “Beats,” in addition to playing the character “Shaunte ‘Tay-Tay’ Hawkins” in the BET series “Boomerang.” Then, she helped pen rhymes for Issa Rae’s “Rap Sh!t,” and contributed to the soundtrack of HBO’s “Insecure.” Entering 2025 with renewed vigor and creativity, the Chicago rapper is gearing up for an intentional run, a personal journey where she’s determined to be unapologetically selfish and prioritizing her own needs.
