On the block of 114th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard in Harlem, Dynasty Commodities blasted the old school 70s hit in their Mother’s Day Appreciation Weekend Block Party on Friday, May 9th from 3 PM-8 PM. The event was a community outreach event with the BLVD and The Row House along with health organizations like Essen, Bronx Care Hospital, and H.E.L.P (Home and Elderly Living Program) trucks were parked outside Dynasty Commodities.
The community block party celebrated mothers, grandmothers, and all-women with DJ Mikeneezy (@dj_mikeneezy) spinning music all day. Dynasty Commodities also had Mother’s Day Gift bags as a gift with any purchase at Dynasty Commodities.
The cannabis dispensary spread their love to the community giving out fresh red long-stem roses to any women passing by the store. The event was not only a block party, but a community service for anyone to bring their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, or any women in their life access to free medical services. Some of these services include case management for home health aide services with Essen.
Women in the community were also offered free medical services like blood pressure checks, mammograms, glucose checks, and other health care services. There was also the H.E.L.P truck that offered that provided information for home health aide services in all five boroughs. The H.E.L.P. program based in the Bronx is funded by Medicaid/Medicare and the Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly Program (EISEP).
The event was also a tribute to the passing of co-owner Fat Joe’s mother Marie Del-Carmen Cartagena, who died at the age of 77 on May 3rd. According to his Instagram, Fat Joe shared his condolences and love for his mother “saying “This a real one, rest in peace to the woman who brought me into this world. She didn’t have much but she gave us everything.” he said.
The event also served complementary food to customers shopping for products. The block party had a special guest come visit Dynasty Commodities, which was the Amazon bestselling author Harlem Holiday (IG:@iamharlemhoilday).
Amazon Best Selling Author Harlem Holiday came to the block party with a special treat and a signed copy of her book “Fallen Petals: The Deception, The Deceit, and The Damed.” and “The Harlem Plug” for Dynasty Commodities’.”

The event continued and more surprise guests from Harlem’s Podcast station, The Beat 139 Harlem came out to support the event and meet Harlem Holiday. As the soul food was being served, the music blasted and roses grew all over Harlem, the block party that reminds us of this day and the celebration of motherhood and women in the Black and Brown community.
