Well-groomed, fresh, and clean eyebrows play a crucial role in enhancing your overall appearance and facial symmetry. As one of the most expressive features on the face, eyebrows frame the eyes, highlight bone structure, and can instantly elevate your look—whether you’re going for natural or bold. Clean brows also signal attention to detail and self-care, leaving a lasting impression whether in professional or social settings. Maintaining their shape and cleanliness not only boosts confidence but also brings out the best in your natural beauty. I had the opportunity to speak with the doctor of eyebrows Farrah.
What are the biggest mistakes people make when shaping their own eyebrows?
One of the biggest mistakes is over-plucking and creating uneven brows that don’t complement their natural features. People also tend to ignore their natural brow shape and arch, leading to a harsh, unnatural look. Another common mistake is using poor-quality tools or not mapping the brows correctly before starting.
How do you determine the best eyebrow shape for someone’s face?
At Secrets to Plush, we use a detailed mapping technique to find the perfect brow shape. We consider the client’s bone structure, eye placement, forehead size, and natural brow growth. Our goal is to enhance the natural beauty of the face, creating balance and symmetry without forcing a “one-size-fits-all” look.
What trends are you seeing right now in the eyebrow world, and do you think they will last?
Right now, the trend is all about soft, natural-looking brows with a slightly fluffy, lifted appearance — think “barely-there but polished.” Techniques like brow lamination, tinting, and nano-strokes are huge. I believe the natural brow trend will stick around because it focuses on enhancing what you have instead of masking it.
How often should someone get their eyebrows professionally shaped or maintained?
Generally, I recommend professional maintenance every 3-4 weeks. This timing helps preserve the shape without allowing stray hairs to disrupt the structure. For clients growing out their brows, it’s really up to them. I’ve had clients that waited like 2 months or more.
What are your top product recommendations for keeping brows healthy and full?
Well my first one would be finding someone that’s gonna take the time to Love on them. Some essentials include a good brow growth serum (like RevitaBrow or GrandeBrow), a nourishing brow oil with ingredients like castor oil and biotin, and a gentle cleanser that won’t strip natural oils. Also, using a brow conditioner can help keep the hair flexible and strong.
Can you share tips for growing back overplucked or thinning eyebrows?
First, hands off — resist the urge to pluck! Stick to a strict no-tweeze policy for at least 8–12 weeks. Use a growth serum nightly, gently massage your brows to stimulate blood flow, and nourish them with a lightweight oil like castor or jojoba. Also, staying consistent is key — growing brows back is a slow process but incredibly worth it! Last but not least finding your Brow Artist that takes there time and will love bringing your brows back to life.
