What inspired you to help women with their health?

Dr. Akanni: I was raised primarily by my mom and watched her grind nonstop to keep our family afloat. I saw how that hustle took a toll on her health—physically and mentally. She’d squeeze in walks or little moments of self-care, and even as a kid, I recognized how powerful—and rare—that was. Seeing her and other women in my family struggle with things like high blood pressure and obesity gave me a soft spot for women. It inspired me to help women like the ones who raised me—strong women who just need the right support.

What’s the biggest mistake women make when trying to lose weight?

Dr. Akanni: Trying to be perfect—and doing it alone. So many women jump into extreme diets or intense workouts that don’t match their hormones, lifestyle, or long-term goals. They lose weight fast but gain it back even faster. Crash diets ruin your metabolism, your mindset, and your relationship with food. Carbs become the enemy, and everything feels like punishment. Real results come from balance, not extremes.

What is the Slim Success System?

Dr. Akanni: The Slim Success System is my signature coaching framework built around three key phases: Foundations, Framing, and Elevation. It helps women lose weight, tone up, and rebalance their hormones by blending macro-based nutrition, gut-friendly foods, full-body resistance training, and real-life habit coaching.
In Foundations, we build sustainable habits tailored to your lifestyle.
In Framing, we stress-test those habits against real-life challenges like travel, work, and social life.
In Elevation, we reach a place where your health feels automatic. This is where you live a high-quality, energized, and confident life without overthinking every meal or workout.

It’s not a diet—it’s a sustainable system built around you.

How can busy women find time for fitness?

Dr. Akanni: The same way we find time for everything else: we prioritize it. A lot of women say they don’t have time, but the truth is, it’s just not ranking high on the priority list yet. Fitness doesn’t have to mean hours at the gym. A 20-minute band workout, a weekend strength session, or hitting 8,000 steps daily is fitness. Progress isn’t about doing 100% perfectly every week—it’s about consistently showing up in the ways that fit your life.
