Coach Gessie shares her remarkable story of overcoming a place of darkness and empowering women around the world to claim their birthright—an abundance of better health, free from preventable health challenges and toxic thoughts, people, habits, and foods.

Where does your drive for health and wellness stem from?
My drive for health and wellness came from pain—literally. When I gave birth to my miracle baby Nia, she also birthed me into my purpose. After battling fibroids and infertility for over a decade, I got tired of suffering in silence—especially as a Black woman without real answers. Once I embraced a holistic, integrative approach, everything changed. That transformation became my mission.

Because our bodies are designed to heal—and when we heal, we rise.

What are some of your favorite ways to practice self-care?
Some of my favorite self-care practices begin with prayer, which grounds and renews my spirit. I prioritize activities that bring genuine joy, like spending quality time with my family and savoring nourishing, healing meals.

I intentionally design my life to allow space for rest and recovery, rather than filling every moment with back-to-back commitments. I’ve embraced the power of setting boundaries—saying no to anything that drains my energy and yes only to what truly supports my healing and well-being.

How do you grow and gain ownership of your confidence?
Growing and owning your confidence starts with knowing your worth and showing up for yourself every day. For me, it meant facing my struggles head-on—like battling fibroids and infertility—and choosing to take control of my health and my story. Confidence isn’t about being perfect; it’s about trusting your journey, learning from setbacks, and celebrating every small win along the way.

When you honor your voice, set boundaries, and surround yourself with people who lift you up, confidence becomes a natural part of who you are. It’s not something you find outside—it’s something you build from within. For me, my confidence is deeply rooted in my faith and in knowing who I am.

How do you find ways to advocate for yourself in the medical industry?
It starts with realizing that you have the right to ask questions and the power to say no. For too long, I didn’t know I could challenge the system. I trusted doctors who dismissed my pain, ignored my symptoms, and offered surgery as my only option. But once I started doing my own research and connecting with integrative practitioners, I learned that true healing isn’t one-size-fits-all—and I had every right to advocate for a second opinion and demand a full picture of my health.

Now I teach women and families to Listen to Your BAE™️:

  • B: Body — Pain is a vital sign that requires URGENCY™️.
  • A: Advocates — Medical bias is REAL. Everyone deserves/needs an Advocate™️.
  • E: Experts — There are ALWAYS 2 Experts in the Room™️.

We weren’t created to live in suffering. You deserve to be heard. You deserve to heal.
