Slick Rick is the true definition of a legend, revered as one of Hip Hop’s greatest storytellers of all time. Now, he unveils his fifth studio album titled Victory, with a cinematic visual to match.

On Thursday, August 7th, the “Children’s Story” rapper hosted an exclusive screening of his powerful visual album VICTORY at the prestigious HollyShorts Film Festival, held at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. Directed by Meji Alabi (Beyoncé’s Black Is King) and executive produced by Idris Elba, VICTORY is a bold, genre-blending cinematic experience that fuses storytelling, poetry, and global visuals to reflect Rick’s journey — from London to the Bronx to Africa.

The project sees standout features from fellow UK rapper Giggs and the legendary Nas.
“This is more than a body of work — it’s a global love letter to hip-hop,” Rick said.

Of course, Slick Rick himself was the star of the evening, boasting undeniable swag that included his one-of-a-kind watch that accented his all beige matching fit. Following the screening, a Q&A commenced with Slick Rick and Estelle, whose vocals made it on one of the tracks on the album.
More than four decades in, VICTORY is a reminder: Slick Rick isn’t just a rap legend — he’s a cultural force, and this film is proof that Slick Rick is art.
