The music was blasting with the 2000s playlist at the Boost Mobile located on 271 West 125th Street in Harlem on May 7th. New York Hot 97.1 FM radio station teamed up with phone provider Boost Mobile for their Summer Jam Pre-Party for the upcoming 2025 Hot 97 Summer Jam Concert. The concert will be held on Friday, June 20th, 2025, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Funk Flex is a well-known figure in hip-hop and the history of Summer Jam. The Hot 97 Summer Jam started in 1994 after Hot 97 transformed into a full-fledged hip-hop station under the direction of Steve Smith. Originally, a branding event, the Summer Jam has become a staple in hip-hop. Thirty years later, the Summer Jam is the most legendary concert in New York and one of the biggest live hip-hop concerts in the world.   

This year’s Summer Jam will be four hours long with an exciting schedule line-up that includes Boogie with a Hoodie, who previously performed at Summer Jam 2018, Jim Jones, Ja Rule, Ice Spice, Cardi B, French Montana, GloRilla, Kash Doll, Muni Long, and Ayra Starr.

This year, Ja Rule will perform a tribute to Irv Gotti. Irv Gotti was the famous producer and co-founder behind Murder, Inc. acts like Ja Rule and Ashanti, and other artists like DMX and Jennifer Lopez. The producer died of a stroke at the age of 54, this past February. There will be music spun for DJ Enuff, DJ EL-PRESIDENTE, and DJ Cosi. There will be other surprise guests on the day of the concert.

On May 15th, according to the Hot 97 Instagram, Busta Rhymes confirmed his attendance at this year’s Summer Jam with THE CONGLOMERATE Trillion on the Summer Jam’s “Who’s Next Festival Stage”.

Funk Flex collaborated with Boost Mobile to offer a “Funk Flex Mix”. He came to Harlem to spin some tracks to promote the upcoming Summer Jam concert next month. The event offered a fun raffle with a prize wheel giving away Hot 97 merchandise, and signing up for a giveaway for two free tickets to the upcoming Summer Jam called “The Suite Life”. The tickets for Summer Jam 2025 started their pre-sale on April 2nd.

“Once you sign up on the tablet, the winner will be contacted in 48 hours. The winner will be randomly picked,” said a Hot 97 event promoter

While spinning records in the store, Boost Mobile has its promotional event for a free phone or tablet. Funk Flex continued to spin records while fans of the DJ came in for photos and autographs. He was not available to comment on the upcoming Summer Jam or the event.

Funk Flex left the event at 4:30 PM. The event continues to 7 PM with the Hot 97 promotion team signing up people for a ticket giveaway. The purchase ticket to Hot 97 Summer Jam 2025 can be purchased through Ticketmaster starting at $102 until the day of the concert.
