Rising Houston rapper Lebra Jolie started off 2025 strong with the release of her single “Turn Me Up,” which is going crazy in the streets. To coincide with the BuddhaBlessThisBeat-produced song’s release, Jolie also dropped a Jerry Morka-produced music video. The video features the rapper riding around, hanging out of a Jeep, with clips of her in a corner store with her friends.
Now, she’s busy getting ready to release the follow-up single “Off Yo Chest,” which is scheduled to drop June 13th.
Jolie describes “Off Yo Chest” as a fun record for the ladies, something that promises to make the listener feel sexy and confident. “Pop your shit, captionable, and you gonna roll that cat a little bit,” she says of the song. “Why do you feel confident, though?”
“Off Yo Chest” arrives just in time to be added to your summer playlist.
The rapper is currently working on new music, the follow-up to 2024’s What Was Said?, which featured collabs with BIA, Saweetie, and Skilla Baby.
Sheen caught up with Lebra Jolie in Los Angeles.
SHEEN:How are we feeling?
LEBRA JOLIE: Feeling good.
SHEEN: Where do you stay at?
LEBRA JOLIE: Houston. But we’ve been busy, I love coming to LA. Y’all got good weather. Good weed. And good vibes.
SHEEN: What does H-Town mean to you?
LEBRA JOLIE: The culture. I just love how we are just us, like you, just you, type shit. It’s just the southernness about Houston, period. The atmosphere of great food. The music is slow and banging or chopped. The shit is just fire.
SHEEN: What’s your favorite food from Texas? Because people be saying LA doesn’t have good food.
LEBRA JOLIE: They don’t. That’s the only thing I don’t like about LA. The food is horrible. Zero out of 10, negative zero.
SHEEN: I was gonna ask your favorite restaurant in LA.
LEBRA JOLIE: There ain’t no fav out here. It sucks. I be having to come out here and eat some regular shit, like a sandwich, like Subway, because I be so mad. It be tragic. Everybody says the same stuff all the time. Bossa Novas. I’m tired of Bossa Novas. The nice places are the normal places. The nice places are chain restaurants. I ate some bomb Mexican food yesterday. It was even better than Houston Mexican. I found a hidden gem.
SHEEN: You’ve been writing poetry since fifth grade. When did you realize the music thing was for real?
LEBRA JOLIE: Beefing with people. So then I had to make good songs. That’s when it started for real.
SHEEN:What’s the inspiration behind your name?
LEBRA JOLIE It’s my real name. Lebra’s my real name. So I wish I had this good backstory, but that’d be cap. Lebra is my real name. Jolie, I’m in love with Angelina Jolie, like all her roles.
SHEEN:What’s a normal day in the life of Lebra Jolie?
LEBRA JOLIE : A normal day? I never had normal days. I don’t know what a normal day looks like, because I just wake up and do what I want to do. Sometimes I want to sit in the bed. Sometime I’m on a headstand. One day, I’m in the studio. Next day, I’m resting from the studio. All days I’m fine, though.
SHEEN: Three things you need in the studio at all times.
LEBRA JOLIE: I need some liquor, Casamigos or Anejo. I need water. Gotta have water. And I need some gum. Anything blue or icy.
SHEEN: “Turn Me Up” is going crazy. Can you bring us back to that studio session? What were you on?
LEBRA JOLIE: BuddhaBlessThisBeat did the beat, and he was supposed to come to the studio. I was waiting on him, and as I was waiting, I was like, he’s taking too long. I play the beat, and I’m just vibing. I started saying whatever came into my head. It started talking to me, and as it was talking to me, I start freestyling it. Then I was recording it. I just kept going. I was getting more hype, and I was saying anything honestly,
SHEEN: Do you freestyle?
LEBRA JOLIE: I haven’t been writing anything in years. Everything I’ve been recording, I’ve been free-styling.
SHEEN: We love good vibes. What can we expect from “Off Yo Chest?”
LEBRA JOLI: “Off Yo Chest” is really fun to me. It’s for the girls. It’s like a vibe where it’s saying stop being a p**$* a** h**, get it off your chest. But it’s not a fighting song. It’s more like, once you get into the verse, it’s some sh*t that makes you feel sexy. Pop your sh*t, captionable, and you gonna roll that cat a little bit.
SHEEN:It’s a twerk song?
LEBRA JOLIE: Not twerk. It’s a roll song. You might pop it a little bit.
SHEEN: How did it feel getting signed?
LEBRA JOLIE: It felt fun, like you’re scratching something off your list. But I think when you’re not in it with me, when you have goals, and you just look in and you’re far from them, you’re thinking like, oh, and then boom. But then when you reach goals, it’s like, okay, next new goal. So it never stops. And so I can see when people are like, “How do people get rich, and then they keep going?” Because now you’ve got another goal.
SHEEN: What are your goals right now?
LEBRA JOLIE: My goal is to take over the world and have one of the biggest, hardest, longest running singles on Billboard. And turn myself up.
SHEEN: BIA is my girl. Y’all sound so good together. How was tour?
LEBRA JOLIE:Which one?
SHEEN: You went with her and Lakeyah, right?
LEBRA JOLIE:Her and Lakeyah, and then Rob49 and Skilla Baby. It was good. I would say the thing about the tour with the boys was about being fun and having fun. And then with the girls, it was about proving yourself, showing why you’re hard as a female rapper. So it was two different vibes, each of them. I’m so good, I can do both.
SHEEN:How was it collaborating with Rob49 on “Give You Some?”
LEBRA JOLIE:He’s fun, like he’s cool. Great energy.
SHEEN:What were you and Natalie Nunn up to?
LEBRA JOLIE: We weren’t up to anything. But she been supportive to a couple of my songs before, and just a real bi**h. I’ve met her in person a couple of times before this last little support that you’re talking about with “Turn Me Up.” So, yeah, she’s just cool. A real bi**h.
SHEEN: Are we doing Baddies?
LEBRA JOLIE: I don’t know. No.
SHEEN:Would you do Baddies?
LEBRA JOLIE: I don’t want to be on Baddies. I just want to be a baddie. I need a boyfriend. You
can live life and be on the yacht, and still watch Baddies.
SHEEN:Is she dating?
LEBRA JOLIE:Who me? Hell no. The only date I got is my calendar dates when I’m booked and busy. But you can date me for sure.
SHEEN:You’re a mom too. How is your baby?
LEBRA JOLIE:She’s getting up there. I got her on my page and stuff, but I bring her out sometimes, like I brought her out on the Bia tour. It’s on my page too, I brought her out at the Bia tour, and she performed. And then I bought her out at Rolling Loud before, and she performed. She do her big one. She acts just like me. She talks a lot of sh*t. Naturally.
SHEEN:If you weren’t doing music, what would you do?
LEBRA JOLIE:If I wasn’t doing music,, I would be a crime scene detective. I like to put sh*t together. I like to look at something and figure out how it happened. I could tell you exactly how it happened. I love true crime documentaries. I love court cases.
SHEEN:Anything else you want to let the people know?
LEBRA JOLIE:I would like to let y’all know to stay positive, stay loving, and turn up this summer. Now I want you to go follow me and be on the lookout for my new single, “Off Yo Chest,” dropping next Friday.
