Kevin Gates returns with a commanding new visual for his single “Stutter,” a project that asserts his presence as an artist in control — focused, unapologetic, and sharply intentional. Released alongside a militarized concept video filmed in Compton, the track underscores Gates’ signature confidence while introducing rising talent NgbDon to a broader audience.
Directed by Damien Sandoval, the “Stutter” video unfolds on a military-style set where Gates assumes the role of a commanding officer. The concept reinforces themes of leadership, focus, and discipline — visually representing Gates’ message: he doesn’t need to repeat himself at all. Don on the other hand repeated himself enough for the both of them.
Choreography, directed by TATI of RAW CREATIVE, adds an extra layer of movement and control, mirroring the precision of Gates’ performance.
Adding to the dynamic is NgbDon, a viral comedian and emerging artist from Little Rock, Arkansas. Known for his bold delivery and speech impediment, NgbDon brings both charisma and vulnerability to the screen — transforming what could be seen as a limitation into a defining asset. His role in the video is deliberate: Gates gives the commands, and NgbDon echoes them, with energy that’s raw and captivating.
Their collaboration carries deeper weight. Little Rock was instrumental in Kevin Gates’ early career — a city that embraced his artistry before the national spotlight did. Now in a position to give opportunities, Gates’ decision to feature NgbDon isn’t just artistic — it’s symbolic. It reflects a full-circle moment in which Gates uplifts a new voice from the same city that once uplifted him.
Behind the scenes, a dedicated creative team ensured the execution matched the vision. Bandcamp, Gates’ longtime collaborator and BWA creative director played a key role in shaping the tone and capturing the behind-the-scenes footage. Security professional Danny Pearson maintained a tightly run set, while Gates’ supportive manager, John Will, oversaw the project’s smooth execution.
Additional coverage came from content creators including Glassie Cassie, an Atlanta-based digital storyteller who documented NgbDon’s on-set experience, and Jacen Carpenter, who focused his lens on Pearson and broader BTS moments. Their collective work ensured no detail went unseen.
The collaboration was powered in part by Artist Partner Group (APG), with Jordan Garrett and Corey Calder providing the label backing necessary to bring “Stutter” to a wide audience.
“Stutter” is now available across all major streaming platforms. With this release, Kevin Gates not only reaffirms his artistic authority — he also amplifies a new wave of talent. As NgbDon steps into the spotlight, the message rings loud and clear: this moment is built on legacy, alignment, and authenticity.
