Dozens of bubble gum pink shopping bags filled SoHo on Friday, June 6th. Lancôme Beauty held their weekend-long Lancôme Idole House Pop-Up Shop at 210 Lafayette Street. Lancôme celebrated its 90th anniversary with Idole House, an immersive, interactive and larger-than-life pop-up inspired by their new Brand Ambassador, Pop-Star and Actress Oliva Rodrigo.
The line wrapped around the block to enter the all-pink pop-up shop. Beauty lovers and music lovers came out to get glammed and have fun, enjoying giveaways that Olivia Rodrigo uses on tour for her signature look. Some of the featured products include the comeback of the nostalgic Y2K Juicy Tubes lip gloss, L’Oréal Lash Idolé Flutter mascara, and Lancôme Idole Power Eau de Parfum Intense. Guests who purchase at the pop-up shop get a limited–edition keychain and a Rodrigo x Lancôme make-up bag as a gift.
Once you enter the pop-up shop, you can smell the sweet and spicy smell of sandalwood and apples fill the air as shoppers enter and get to smell the Lancôme Idole Power Eau de Parfum Intense and receive a free Lancôme lollipop, a free sample of the perfume, and the pink Lancôme shopping bag. Each participant gets a Lancôme card, where they can get a stamp when achieving a task in the pop-up.
Participants got to strut on the Lancôme Idole Power Runway covered in boutiques of pink roses and a life-size display of the Lancôme Idole Power Eau de Parfum Intense. The runway was inspired by Olivia’s empowering Idole Power Journey TV and Social Media Ad.
The glam zone was a scene out of Grease with an all-pink make-up counter, pink tiles, and retro pink beauty salon chairs to match. Lancôme make-up artists gave full makeovers. Up next, the Juicy Tube station gave a chance to pick your favorite shade of a free mini Juicy Tube that had the viral trend with a charm and keychain attached. There was the hashtag # messwithLancome hanging above where people take tags of their beauty looks on social media.
You were able to channel Olivia’s energy on stage with the life-size stage with pink guitars, pink speakers, pink TVs with Oliva’s image flashing on it, and a mic stand for edgy photo opportunities. Next to the stage was the all-purple recording studio with a Lancome hanging neon sign flashing. The majestic purple studio had spiked foam walls and a replica of Oliva’s purple guitar she is using on tour. There was a turntable and microphone set-up for Instagram-worthy photos.
“The mascara is bomb!” said Anita, IG@anita.szt, who took a turn at the turntable in the Lancôme recording studio. Her friend, IG@Xoemilyyxox, shared what she likes about the pop-up, “I think this is an amazing event, and there is a lot of stuff to do, which I was surprised about!” she said.
Next was the Lash Bar, where you can play with the three top mascaras: The Lancôme Lash Idole Flutter Extension Lengthening Mascara, Lancôme Lash Idole Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara, and the Lancôme Monsieur Big Volume Mascara. “This one is my personal favorite!” said Oliva as she held up a tube of The Lancôme Lash Idole Flutter Extension Lengthening Mascara on Lancôme’s TikTok, which was at the pop-up shop during press hour on June 6th.
As you leave the pop-up shop, the grand finale is the Lancôme shop where you can purchase merchandise from Oliva’s GUTS Tour, which is currently in Montreal, Canada.
There was a chance for extra freebies with the pink Lancôme Claw Machine, which gives you 10 seconds to grab an extra freebie like an extra perfume sample, lip gloss, or travel-size mascara. The friendly staff at the pop-up shop waved goodbye. Shoppers were left with an inspirational message on Lancôme’s walls: “Becoming you is your superpower.”
