For Californians, Paso Robles might already be on the map, but for those of us outside the Golden State, this city is the definition of a hidden gem. With direct flights from Dallas and other major hubs, Paso Robles is one of the best places to add to your California wine country bucket list. Imagine over 300 wineries, incredible restaurants, and a small town vibe that feels like an episode of Cheers, where everybody knows your name.

This past Labor Day weekend, I discovered Paso Robles, and let’s just say one weekend wasn’t nearly enough. Whether you’re planning a girls’ trip, a romantic couples’ getaway, or even a group retreat, Paso Robles is the versatile destination you didn’t know you needed.

Where to Stay: Allegretto Vineyard Resort

If you want a stay that feels like you’ve been whisked away to Italy, Allegretto Vineyard Resort is the spot. Not only is it close to the major wineries, but it also has its own vineyard, a luxury spa, and an on-site restaurant. The architecture and vibe scream Tuscany, and trust me, it’s the perfect balance of relaxation and luxury for your wine country escape.

Where to Eat in Paso Robles

Vina Robles – A perfect lunch stop where you can enjoy authentic Italian pizza baked over an open fire while sipping wine.

Jeffrey’s Wine Country BBQ – The comfort food heaven of Paso Robles. Think BBQ thigh biscuits, pulled pork mac & cheese, BBQ quesadillas, plus an in-house red wine that pairs beautifully with the smoky flavors. Don’t forget to check out their hidden speakeasy.
