On Wednesday, industry giants gathered for a night celebrating more than 20 years of success for Reach Records. The label, co-founded by Lecrae and CEO Ben Washer, has been at the forefront of Christian hip-hop since 2003. Reach has helped shape the genre through a roster that includes Jackie Hill Perry, Anike, Trip Lee, Andy Mineo, KB and more, all using music as a tool to spread the gospel.
What began as a grassroots movement has grown into a global platform. Lecrae and BJ Thompson first teamed up as the 116 Clique, a name inspired by Romans 1:16, which says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel.” Embodying this verse, they would witness to individuals everywhere, including nightclubs. Lecrae’s passion, from the early days to now, has been key to Reach Records’ continued growth.
The evening wasn’t just a celebration of music, but a recognition of faith, obedience and impact. Lecrae and Thompson’s decision to use music as a form of ministry has led to a diverse label filled with artists committed to authenticity and purpose.
From the branded cups and napkins to the energy in the room, the Reach Records spirit was unmistakable. Lecrae worked the crowd, connecting with artists, collaborators and longtime supporters who have been part of the label’s journey.
Attendees also had the opportunity to network with industry professionals and connect directly with Lecrae.
Today, Reach Records continues to embrace new talent and evolving sounds. The recent signing of Puerto Rican singer Alexxander brings a Latin gospel influence to the label’s growing roster.
From legacy acts to emerging voices, Reach Records remains focused on creating space for artists who challenge boundaries while staying grounded in their beliefs. The celebration served as a tribute to the past and a look toward a future shaped by faith and community.
