An Unforgettable Hollywood Premiere

On July 27, Regal LA Live transformed into the electric epicenter of Hollywood magic as Amazon MGM Studios rolled out the star-studded world premiere of The Pickup– a new heist comedy set to stream globally on Prime Video starting August 6, 2025. I had the honor of covering it for Sheen Magazine, diving into the exclusive behind‑the‑scenes moments, celebrity style, and the wild energy that made it pure cinematic electricity.

Meet the Cast (and the Chaos)

Headlining the night were Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer, and Pete Davidson—a trio whose chemistry was as unpredictable as it was electric.

• Murphy, sharp in all‑black, carried himself with classic sophistication.
• Palmer turned heads in a silver-gray Versace gown- part fierce fashion statement and a homage to a similar Versace dress won by iconic supermodel, Naomi Campbell.
• And Davidson- ethereal in a beige Sergio Tacchini tracksuit, sneakers, and all kept it refreshingly real.

Supporting cameos came from Eva Longoria, Marshawn Lynch, Roman Reigns, Andrew Dice Clay, and others, elevating the event from star-studded to galaxy status.

Behind the Scenes: A Reel Glimpse

I took you inside the premiere’s frenzy, from the intense red carpet to the packed theater experience. I even sneaked a peek at the filmmakers, Tim Story and the producers, addressing the crowd before the screening. The theater was so oversold that no plus‑ones were allowed- a reminder of Hollywood’s pull at its most magnetic.

I even let you in on my personal preference: snagging a seat in the mezzanine for the best runway-level view inside the theater.

After Party: Where the Real Magic Happens

Once the laughs erupted and the credits rolled, the night shifted to the iconic Hotel Figueroa, where the after-party elevated the premiere to legendary. Louder music, creative cocktails (shout‑out to the delicious paloma I had), artful hors d’oeuvres, and a vibe that said: “industry networking in full glam mode on.”

They also set up a fun on-theme photo spot—evoking the armored‑truck world of The Pickup with instant photo props and sets that matched the film’s playful tone.

Why The Pickup Is Worth the Watch

Directed by Tim Story (Barbershop, Ride Along), written by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows, and produced by a team including Eddie Murphy, The Pickup blends razor-sharp comedy with high-octane action. The plot follows two armored-truck drivers whose routine delivery turns into a million-dollar disaster cooked up by Palmer’s Zoe- a sharp, unexpected mastermind.

Murphy and Davidson reportedly improvised much of their chemistry, pushing one another to new comedic heights while Palmer stood coolly lethal at the story’s center.

Final Thoughts

This was not just a premiere: it was a full sensory experience. The Pickup promises to be one of this summer’s most fun, action-packed originals: tight 94-minute runtime, comedic fireworks, and a must-watch ensemble that bridges generations in perfect harmony.

If you love fast laughs, crazy heists, and cameo bombs- including one from Eva Longoria playing Murphy’s wife- you will love this film.

Watch the video reel below for the full behind‑the‑scenes breakdown, my red carpet walkthrough, and all the Hollywood glam feels. Make sure you catch The Pickup on Prime Video August 6. Trust me: it’s a ride you won’t want to miss.
