September marks Self-Improvement Month, making it the perfect time to highlight a leader who is redefining what it means to look and feel your best. Reena Gray, CRNP, founder of Gray Aesthetics in Cockeysville, MD, has earned recognition as Baltimore Magazine’s Face of Modern Aesthetic Medicine for her innovative approach to beauty and wellness. With extensive national and international training, Reena brings a philosophy of subtle sophistication to her work, specializing in full facial balancing through advanced techniques such as dermal fillers, neuromodulators, biostimulators, microneedling, hair restoration, medical weight loss, and skincare. By blending clinical precision with artistic sensibility, she enhances natural beauty in a way that empowers clients to embody their most confident, authentic selves.
What advice do you have for new business owners, especially in the beauty space?
Reena: Focus on building trust before anything else. Clients return not just because of results, but because they feel valued and cared for. Invest in your education, your relationships, and your reputation—the rest will follow. Bet it all on yourself first and put all your eggs in one basket because failure is not an option. Also, always remember your why!
How do you stay up to date in aesthetics?
Reena: I’m constantly learning—from advanced training courses to industry conferences, webinars, and networking with other providers. Aesthetics is always evolving, and staying on top of the latest techniques and technology is a responsibility I take seriously. My clients also play a role by sharing new treatments they hear about. After my personal research, I make sure it makes both “cents” and “sense” before bringing it into practice.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Reena: Seeing a client light up when they look in the mirror. That moment when they feel like themselves—only more confident—is the most rewarding part of what I do.
What makes Gray Aesthetics different?
Reena: At Gray Aesthetics, we focus on enhancing your natural beauty, not changing who you are. Our treatments are personalized, results-driven, and grounded in both science and artistry. Clients come to us because they trust us to deliver subtle, beautiful results in a comfortable, welcoming environment. They trust the vision of matching the inner beauty with the outer beauty.
Why did you start your own practice?
Reena: I wanted to create a space where clients feel truly heard and cared for. After years in the medical aesthetics field and working in plastic surgery, I saw a gap between what clients wanted and what was often, especially when it came to natural, individualized results. Gray Aesthetics was born from my passion for helping people feel confident in their own skin while keeping things approachable and real. I realized it’s an art to injectables. I’m an artist and my clients are my beautiful canvases!
How do you make clients feel confident?
Reena: By listening first. Every appointment starts with understanding what you want and what makes you feel like your best self. Then I create a treatment plan that aligns with your vision while providing the education and support you need along the way. I love to make sure each client feels educated, informed, and comfortable before treatment.
Do you believe in work-life balance, and if so, how do you maintain it?
Reena: Absolutely. For me, balance comes from setting boundaries and being fully present in each role I play, whether I’m with my clients, my family, or taking time for myself. It’s not always perfect, but I’ve learned that caring for myself makes me better at caring for others.
