The Georgia International Convention Center was on fire as beauty professionals, students, educators, and entrepreneurs gathered for The Black Beauty Expo, a powerful two-day event celebrating Black excellence in the beauty industry. This year’s expo brought together some of the most dynamic educators and stylists in the game—offering masterclasses, product showcases, competitions, and networking opportunities that left attendees empowered and inspired.

From the moment the doors opened, the energy was unmatched. The educational lineup featured some of the industry’s finest minds sharing techniques, tools, and strategies designed to elevate careers and skill sets.

  • Herman Mayfield delivered an in-depth barbering session, giving attendees firsthand knowledge on precision cutting and grooming.
  • Apostle Clay Cofield introduced attendees to The Retention Blueprint, equipping beauty professionals with key principles to grow and keep clientele.
  • Hana Ali, with her session on The Pro Makeup Artist, guided attendees through the essentials of mastering makeup techniques for all skin tones.
  • Colleen Johnson-Jones captivated her audience with Skincare 101, focusing on the foundations of healthy skin and must-have products.
  • Shakira V. Clark taught a packed class, Build the Brand, BE THE BRAND, helping beauty professionals define their image, refine their messaging, and dominate on social media.
  • Tonya Pitts showcased Custom Hair Solutions, blending creativity and technical skill for stylists looking to create signature styles.
  • Joseph Faponle taught Wand Curling 101, perfecting the art of the curl and delivering tips for long-lasting styles.
  • Monique Porter inspired students with Student to Stylist, a session focused on the transition from beauty school to the salon floor—bridging the gap between learning and launching.
  • Akira York brought creativity to the forefront with her Creating Press-On Nails class, showing attendees how to design, customize, and market press-on nail sets for clients and retail opportunities.

Beyond the classrooms, the vendor hall was a shopper’s paradise. From haircare products to accessories and tools, attendees explored and supported a wide array of Black-owned businesses and brands. The atmosphere was vibrant, with music, giveaways, and hands-on product demos throughout the day.

But the excitement didn’t stop there.

Day Two featured a dazzling Fashion Show and the epic Hair Battle: Gen-Z vs Gen-X.
Both teams brought passion and artistry to the stage, but Gen-X took the crown, wowing the crowd with Avant-Garde hairstyles and three Afrocentric-inspired looks that told stories of culture, creativity, and heritage. The entire convention center roared with applause as the Gen-X team stood in victory, celebrated not only for their talent but for their powerful tribute to Black beauty.

From masterclasses to the marketplace, competitions to community—The Black Beauty Expo was more than just an event—it was an experience. An experience rooted in education, elevation, and excellence.

We’re already looking forward to the next stop on the tour! If you missed Atlanta, don’t miss what’s coming next.

Stay tuned. Stay inspired. Stay beautiful.
