Just a few days ago, Alicia Keys performed for the NFL’s opening night and while doing so, she honored the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery.

To no surprise, Alicia Keys did the damn thing!

For the opening night, the NFL announced that they were partnering with the music icon to launch a $1B initiative in order to help black businesses.

In an interview with Billboard, Keys stated, The initial goal of $1 billion is to ensure a substantial commitment.”

She added, “Even with that it does not come close to closing the economic gap. The next steps are to reach out to different industries to invite them to invest in racial justice and create a multi-billion dollar endowment across business sectors.” She continued, “As an artist, I’m always thinking about how I can use my platform to further racial equity,”

Keys says in the Billboard interview, “This fund is one of the answers and our goal is to empower Black America through investing in black businesses, Black investors, institutions, entrepreneurs, schools, and banks in a way to create sustainable solutions.”

In addition to this partnership, we know that the NFL partnered with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation last year to enact social justice initatives.
