Rising artist, TÖME has quickly climbed to the top of the ladder in the music industry. In a groundbreaking year, she’s toured with WizKid, Mr. Eazi, and made an appearance at Afrofest in 2019! Nearly four months into 2020, TÖME took it upon herself to use her successful platform to help those who have been affected by our current pandemic. Tune into our exclusive interview with her to see how’s made it her mission to help others and inspire people to take action during this difficult time!

How did you first get into music?

I kind of always loved entertainment and music in general. I started writing poetry songs when I was 8-years-old. When I was 10 and I got my guitar, that’s when I began composing. I never stopped from there (laughs).

Tell us about your experience joining Wizkid on his Canadian tour.

That was amazing. It was my first taste of being on a tour. It was incredible because it was the first time I performed in front of over 4K people. It was an amazing experience because there were ups and downs, technical difficulties, and I was really able to learn, improve, see what it takes, and see what really goes down in a tour. It’s not always sunshine and flowers (laughs), it can definitely have it’s turmoil as well when you’re on tour. It was really interesting to see how touring works and how Wizkid’s team works. I saw more than most would see so it was really cool, interesting, and I was grateful to be apart of it.

Tell us about the COVID-19 Food Drive Challenge. Why was partnering with MEDIC so important to you?

I am Nigerian and for me, the fact that I was able to partner with them felt like it was something I had to do. I didn’t feel like I should say “No.” It just didn’t feel right to. Kids are the future of our human success truly. If we’re not leading by good example in such a bad and troubling time then how can we expect a better future? That’s really how I’ve always seen it. With that being said, with this difficult time that we’re going through, there are kids and people suffering. Anyway that I could help, I wanted to be apart of it. I was glad that we partnered so that I could use my platform for good. This is a time to do so.

What are you currently working on? What can we expect to see from you in the future?

Right now, we’re working on our album that comes out at the end of May. My next single is coming out April 24th. The album will be able for pre-order. There’s a music video, more content, new music is on its way. Hopefully when this pandemic is over (sooner rather than later), we will be back on the road to tour. There are no set dates or locations as of right now.
