Shopping during can be tedious and overwhelming. When you’re unsure of what a person you’re may like or working with a budget, this can also add to the list of stressors. However, I found the perfect place to do my shopping all year long.

Beyond this February, started by Mrs. Tamika Thompson, is a growing business in the Upstate of South Carolina and offers a variety of books to choose from. I’m an avid reader myself, and I love sharing the knowledge I’ve learned with others, so to shop here during the holidays was a bonus experience. This book store aims to teach African American history beyond February. It is dedicated to sharing books written by African American authors. It was an incredible experience to see people of different ethnicities purchase books and inquire about more information from the owner. Learning why she started her business and how much it means to her gives a better understanding of what she’s doing and how it also impacts the community.

So if you’re looking for a special gift any time of year that holds value, visit Beyond this February at bookshop.org/shop/beyondthisfebruary. You can also find her on Facebook and in the community at local pop-up shops. Of course, shopping online is easier but meeting the owner in person is an experience you don’t want to miss.
